I went a private Catholic School for a number of years when I was young. We got to watch The ten commandments. We ended up putting on a school play about it. I don't know how on Earth that was decided, maybe it was just our teacher Mrs.Burns. I just know when she was assigning roles, she was asking for volunteers for various characters.
I raised my hand to play Ramses, and was awarded the part, even though I never looked like Yul Brynner. I don't think any of the other kids wanted to play him.
