Theres springlead drum as a land, but half the point of springleaf drum is playing it on the same turn as a land to cast stuff faster. Also you need artifacts for mox opal.

Ancient Tomb is great but legacy only.

So no, none of these are going into affinity. Basically you have to be better than darksteel (worth 2 mana on affinity cards/metalcraft)or glimmervoid (never happening).

So... I gotta admit I'm impressed expeditions round 2 manages to put round 1 to fucking shame. Not the worst thing in the world to be tossing some more Wastelands into circulation either. Pulling a Tarn would have been sweet cuz $$. Pulling a Wasteland would be mind blowing, at least from my admittedly nostalgic point of view. Also because running a wasteland in limited these days would give me the biggest magic boner I'd ever have.

To bring the clusterfuck back up, my god. I read a dozen or so pages on Blogatog just now because nothing better to do at 10am on a Monday since the cocksuckers can order me a company car a month in advance but not a god damn phone and laptop I can't do my job without so IM STILL NOT GOD DAMN WORKING A WEEK AFTER MY ASSIGNMENT WAS FINALLY APPROVED AND STARTED. Ahem. I always forget just "how" retarded magic players can actually be so I revise my pointless/eyeroll stance to probably for the best after all. I guess you get used to tuning out the Dewayne's of the world. "Would a card that cost 1CU be blue, colorless, or two colors?" Rosewater is a more patient man than I since the answer wasn't "I don't know is blue a fucking color? IS COLORLESS A COLOR MOTHERFUCKER?". Since the reasonis"retards" I guess the changebeing"retarded" kind of fits. Change made perfect sense once I thought about it in those terms actually.

Oh also just to make my post useful quick edit.Rosewater does confirm in a few places that C will be used as a cost "where appropriate" in future sets. So the claims that it was a one and done to highlight the change or whatever the fuck people were parroting that I didn't really pay attention to is the bullshit it sounded like. It will show up sparingly but is opening the design space I'd assumed it would but hadn't bothered to confirm. Get ready for "CCCCU - Take another turn we fixed time walk this time guys" because you know it's happening if it's not already in Oath. However wastesareintended to be a one and done, hence "Basic Land" instead of "Basic Land - Wastes". They also have to be drafted, take a common slot, and appear with 2x normal common frequency. Which is hella gay because fuck common (literally)vanilla lands but oh well. Maybe some of that's been posted my bad if so.

I feel like that reverse Library of Alexandria might end up in Affinity somehow for grindy matches. Crap your hand out then start drawing two a turn.

I'm on the complete opposite end of the spectrum here. Other than Wasteland, I'm completely unimpressed by any of the new expeditions. Compare Fetchlands and Shocklands which run from being a staple in every format to being complete modern to what we're going to get:

10 Filterlands: Sprinkled around in random modern decks (I never understood why these things have such high value other than the scarcity of the sets they were orginially printed in)
Ancient Tomb: Played in a handful of Legacy decks
Forbidden Orchard: Played in Vintage Oath
Dust Bowl: EDH
Strip Mine: Vintage one of.
Tectonic Edge: Uncommon....
Kor Haven: ........
Eye of Ugin: Am I playing Tron?
Mana Confluence: A little late to the party
Wasteland: $$$$$$

Other than Wasteland, I can't find myself getting too excited about opening any of the rest of these. I'll probably collect these because I'm an idiot that decided to spend a fortune to collect a playset of BFZ Expeditions, so I might as well have a playset of the whole thing. But other than Wasteland I can't see anything being worth over $100 or maintaining value like the BFZ ones.

Yeah, I agree. I think round two falls well short of round one. I haven't opened an expedition. Now watch me open Kor Haven, or Tec Edge, or one of the nine or so filter lands that doesn't see play*. I'm only really hoping to pull a Wasteland, and wouldn't be bummed by Ancient Tomb or Strip Mine because I like their art.

What do you guys think the Wasteland will go for? I'm thinking $300-400 (SCG price).

*I don't play EDH, so no idea if they see more play there, but only the GB one sees more than fringe play in modern as far as I know.

Wasteland will start off at $400 like Scalding Tarn. The only reason I can see it maintaining that value is because no one is spending money on any of the other expeditions from this set. I would still expect it to drop like Tarn. I'm not sure if drops below $200, but I won't be surprised. There are already 3 other foil promo Wastelands that people can spend a bunch of money on.

Filters see a lot of EDH play. EDH has a lot of 2-4 Mana-Symbol cards that you need to power out in a multicolor deck. The filters are better at enabling a deck to pay an [R][R][R] spell one turn, then a and [W][W][W] spell on subsequent turns than a normal bi-color land. They're basically top 4 "dual lands," and even at their current prices, are at least still cheaper than Real Duals

Also, Mana Reflection is hilarious with Filter Lands and Signets.

And any Modern 3-color deck rocking Cryptic Command (Except Scapeshift, for land-type requirement reasons) should heavily consider 2-3 Blue Filters.

No way Wasteland will be that much. It's the fourth foil promo and will easily be the most common. My guess is it floats around $150 before sinking. It'll impact the price of Tempest copies more than anything else.

Vintage players don't give a fuck about foils unless they're pack or the only possible foil print. The MPR Wasteland will remain the most desirable foil

You mean the ones I fucking sold after the flood. I'm pretty sure I got 90 each for them so I guess it's not awful.

That particular Wasteland is ~$300 now. The judge foils are both $200.

Foiling legacy decks is hard, and Wasteland isn't really the bottleneck. It's even worse with vintage, where so much of it can't be foiled anyway that there's almost no point. Like I don't get why Forbidden Orchard is getting an expedition. The pack version is a goddamn Kamigawa card and it's still only a $40 foil. It has literally no application if you don't already down a set of power.

SCG streams just got worse - Patrick Sullivan is going to work full time for Activision (he was a contractor for the last year or so), he's been working on their upcoming Skylanders card game I believe. He said he will still do some coverage in 2016.

Add to that Cedric is being promoted so he also won't be on commentary as much going forward.

To be fair, they could get two howler monkeys to cast it and it'd still be better than Wizards' coverage.

Fucking sucks about P. Sul and Ceddie. They were so good together during the Invitational this past weekend that I was trying to figure out how they would replace either of them. Now they are losing both.

It's a function of SCG being the only org doing a professional cast. Trying to think of folks they've had in before, I wouldn't mind seeing Shaheen Soorani do coverage again.

We need Chris Pikula in the booth to mock people's play lines and call them bad players. Shit was fun. Also, Osyp Lebedowicz.

I seriously doubt Ceddy P will be doing less coverage. Dude loves to talk almost as much as he loves cake.
