So in regards to the judge suspensions, the southeast RC is on JudgeCast (two hosts of which were among the judges who were suspended and subsequently reinstated) that goes into extreme detail over everything that happened. It's a very honest and frank discussion of exactly how WotC interacted with the group of judges. I'm sure it'll be an interesting listen for some folks out there.

JudgeCast #138B The Great Judge Suspension [Explicit Language] | JudgeCast
Holy shit, talk about using the nuclear option.

Edit: I mean I knew that WOTC was fucking litigious but jesus fucking christ.

Wow, only so far in, but for the past four sets the SE judges had a group chat where essentially batphone leaked cards were posted. I haven't followed this stuff too closely, but the impression I got before was they were just talking about the same spoilers that were all over reddit and various websites. That's not what it was. It was a small group of people that had inside information basically one or two dudes removed from a WoTC employee.

Uh, no not exactly. They had imgur.com links. The actual leak was at WotC. There was no bat phone, heh. It was nothing out of the ordinary at all, and no one really thought they were real.

I hope it was out of ordinary. They had leaks for the past four sets. It went from a Wotc employee to his friend to one of the judges posting on the chat boards. These weren't widespread all over reddit or MTGSalvation leaks. They were leaks only posted to their chat board, imgur posts with only 120 views. They admitted they had the Origins flip walkers. I don't recall those ever leaking such that the general public knew about them.

I also don't buy they thought they were not real or didn't know they were essentially insider-info leaks. This went on for four sets. Maybe if it happened once, ok. But eventually the cards are officially released and then its like, well shit, I guess we knew about those a long time ago. Then the same thing happens the next set. Then the same thing happens the next set, this time with the flipwalkers. You're saying they didn't go on the reddit, or to a store to judge a tournie, and think, hey, why is no one talking about those new flipwalkers that are posted on our chat boards?

I'm not a huge fan of widespread leaks. But I think this sort of thing is way worse.

Did you listen to the entire podcast? I have a hard time understanding how that's your major takeaway. They were quite clear that in previous sets *nothing* came to them ahead of time. WotC tarred them with those previous sets because once they hit reddit, they eventually ended up linked within the chat feed. They were already in the wild by then.

It's also not a chatboard. This was a real-time chat with hundreds and hundreds of messages per day, 99% of which have nothing to do with spoiler season even *during* spoiler season. It's how our region keeps itself running. No one in it pays attention to when cards would hit chat, because *no one* does that. Every single player in the world thinks, "oh look a new spoiler, let's go check that out" without any thought to where it might be from.

Not sure if it is the same info as the podcast, but I recently got the whole story through a judge friend and... Holy shit WotC went overboard on this. Like, I know judges are all like "we don't want to hurt the players," but when your "employer" is treating your group like this you do actually need to make a stand. Unfortunately that didn't happen, so expect judges to still be treated like crap.

Apparently an article about removing the Reserved List was up earlier, then taken down. Was likely just miss-flagged for "view-date," since today is sunday, not monday.

BEGIN THE SPECULOCALYPSE.

As someone heavily invested in vintage and legacy, at least as a player and not a dealer, I'd be totally fine with it. I'd be happy to pick up a shitty reprint Lotus so I could stick my collectible one in plastic and never have to shuffle it again.

Fairly sure this is in reference to the 404 error people were getting last week for the reserved list page. That's not a change in policy, it's just WotC being useless when it comes to online presence.

Local Legacy player is trying to rush sell his Guru lands. 3 Islands and a Plains for $800. He claims its a good deal but I cant pay that much for basics, id rather be able to build more decks then to pimp out one deck.

Gurus look really nice, they fit the old style card frame of a lot of vintage / legacy stuff, and they're very rare. You also only need a couple of them for most decks. I've never seen anyone with 8-10 basics in Miracles playing all gurus or anything.
