He's right if you're talking about the people that are all about wanting to play any deck in standard at any given time. There's a lot of people that have 1 standard deck per season and trade/sell off parts of their deck to finance the next deck. It would take quite awhile to make up for the front loaded costs of Legacy for someone like that.

Yeah, if someone is on one standard deck it would take quite a bit longer. Again, I'm speaking just to competitive players who have enough time and energy invested in the game to care. Most frequent PPTQ players aren't sticking to a single deck. They're following changes in the format and trying to make the best choice for that week.

The people who really come out the worst are box buyers and drafters. There's no upside at all to that.

edit: UPS just delivered a NM english Imperial Seal as Arbitrary was giving me shit, so he's probably onto something. I am indeed a crazy person.

Hahaha, I'm not gonna give you shit over it, long as you're having fun. You just have a very different outlook on it from most FNM type players, or even a lot of kids that show up to legacy events. Hell, even when I played legacy I was mostly running it on the cheap with dragon stompy and homebrew cause the price barrier on duals and other staples was just too much for me.

Alright 4c Rites is completed and sleeved, gonna visit my local FNM tomorrow and knock off almost 10 years of constructed rust.

Was able to get Collected Company for $17 each so that was good the rest I picked up online.

got around $250 left in seed money. Anything I should look to pick up?

I would guess Grove and Horizon Canopy have a solid chance of being Mythics in MM3. But the Expedition Canopy may mean no to that.

Good drafters at stores who award credit usually turn a profit. I played limited for 9 months, built a deck with draft/trades top 8'd a pptq with it, then sold everything at 30% value to help fund a move and made about 10%more than I spent in that period.

Like Ronnie said all that matters is having fun.

If grove of the buyrnwillows si reprinted im going to be really sad, that price point is toooooo high
our LGS couldn't get rid of their From The Vault: Realms, so i ended up buying 5 for 200$ or so.

Sure turned out better then my FTV: Twenty adventure

Most legacy players from our FNM can consistently 3-1 or 4-0 drafts, they are the more experienced / better players.

Draft is highly profitable if you are one of those players in your LGS. Its also annoying to play relative newbies, so screw that

Oh sure, but those same players can consistently 3-1 or 4-0 legacy too, so why bother. The payoff isn't worth playing squires and storm crows.

In other news, it's soggy biscuit day on the EMA spoiler. The last day is traditionally when they dump all the crap they didn't have a way to hype. I.E. Sphinx of the Steel Wind at mythic, after it was in a commander precon.

Still a good set overall, and I won't be unhappy with extra copies of a lot of the stuff in it.

From my napkin math, the expected value of a pack is less than MSRP so I wouldn't exactly call the set good if you want to crack packs. Drafting it may be worth it however.

Really surprised they didn't reprint Rishadan Port. It was already the most expensive card online and its jumped even more.

I pre ordered a box for MSRP from my LGS to do a draft with friends. We will sip miller high life from champagne glasses as we play our foil manacrypts and force of wills.

Set looks like a small number of insane cards and a pile of shit. Is it really reprinting the khans common lands... wtf?

Some portion of the set is there specifically for the limited format. Also the juice density of the Rares and Mythics is abnormally high. Also they need to save some stuff for the next time they do one of these in 2 or 3 years.

The fact that the only land cycle in it is the khans lands is truly upsetting to me. We knew duals were off the table but no enemy fetches or even filter lands? Come on that's just shitty considering mana bases are the most expensive part of legacy/modern.

Is the print run being so limited a valid complaint? I know Sterling works a store, maybe he can comment.
