Christ this new set looks awful. The only thing even remotely interesting yet is Thalia.

This meld flip card bullshit can take a hike.

Meld is fine, it's only the 3 pairs of them anyway so not like it's gonna be fucking up limited.

Thus far a lot of cards seem meh, especially the new kindle/accumulate, but white has some crazy good looking stuff in the rider rider dude and the new kicker card.

I love the nibilis of frost guy, but I like jank and look forward to making some shitty harness the storm deck with him.

The bad Remand is essentially "pushed" blue design, at least compared to what they've been doing with Blue counters since Mana Leak reprint burned them hard.

So I have Harness the Storm in play and Take Inventory in the graveyard. I cast Take Inventory from hand, Harness triggers, cast the card from the graveyard. The one in the graveyard moves to the stack right? I end up drawing 3?

Correct.

If you have 3 Take Inventory in your graveyard, and 3 harness the storm in play:

1) Cast Take Inventory #4, put it on the stack.
2) Put 3 Harness the Storm triggers on the stack targeting 3 different copies of Take Inventory in your Graveyard.
3) Both players pass priority.
4) First Harness the Storm resolves, casting Take Inventory (Paying 1U), which adds it to the stack.
5) Pass Pass
6)Take Inventory resolves, seeing 2 Take Inventories in the Graveyard [Draw 3].
7) Pass Pass
8) Second Harness the Storm resolves, casting Take Inventory (Paying 1U), which adds it to the stack.
9) Pass Pass
10) Take Inventory Resolves, seeing 2 Take Inventories in the Graveyard [Draw 3]
11) Pass Pass
12) Third Harness the Storm resolves, casting Take Inventory (paying 1U), which adds it to the stack.
13) Pass Pass
14) Take Inventory Resolves, seeing 2 Take Inventories in the Graveyard [Draw 3]
15) Pass Pass
16) Initial Take Inventory Resolves, seeing 3 Take Inventories in the Graveyard [Draw 4]
4UUUU: Draw 13 (Totally a coincidence yo)

Take Inventory is a sorcery, so the first one would have to resolve before you can cast the second one no? So you'd get 4 draws total?

Harness the Storm forces them onto the stack when the Harness Trigger resolves (should you elect to perform its "may" effect). It isn't a "you may cast that spell from your graveyard this turn" effect, it's a "YOU CAST THIS NOW DAWG" trigger; these set-ups are not the common form of this effect, as design tends to prefer creating copies, or allowing you to cast a spell this turn, but it's still a form that's happened frequently enough in the past, and has stronger synergies with the "cast triggers" that are abundant in standard right now for the Instant/Sorcery "theme."

I want to play a terrible Harness the Storm/Jace's Sanctuary deck now.

edit: Nevermind I see now what you did. Extra copies of Harness in play.

The more likely scenario is one Harness, 2UU for 7 cards.

Yeah, just wanted to get to the 13 for Innistrad flavor

And double-harness stacks with these things will probably result in a judge-call at some point.

Not entirely sure how good that will be. Part of what made the Illusions/Donate thing so good was gaining 20 life let you draw like 15+ extra cards with Necro and sculpt a gross hand.

I mean, you also had Force of Will half of illusions+donate's legality. This is obviously going to be nowhere near as powerful of a deck, on any axis. You have weaker donate targets, a weaker base color for the donate, and weaker support cards.

But the FNM Fun? Priceless. Imma run Mindwrack Demon as a back-up target in case I can't get a Demonic Pact rolling. Donate him and watch as he kills his controller faster than he kills me. I could just, you know, not donate him, and just have delirium, but where's the fun in that!

Illusions/Donate may be what people remember but it was Necropotence that broke everything. That card had made it through more than one Standard, got reprinted in 5th for another go, was unrestricted/unbanned in all formats, but once everyone figured out to use it to fuel combo decks shit got cray-cray and it had to be shown the door. Hell, that was also an era before WotC really started to eject fast mana and tutors from formats. Lotus Petal, Mystical Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Mana Vault, Yawgmoth's Will, Tinker, and others were all crazy in multiples.

Turn 1 Ritual into Hypnotic Specter, turn 2 Hymn to Tourach, turn 3 Necropotence used to pass for good clean Magic.

I still have my copy of Inquest declaring Necropotence the worse card ever printed. Times were simpler back then.
