A child with borrowed Infect just won a GP. Skill doesn't correlate one to one with age.

Legacy is a pretty complex format though. Brainstorm and Cabal Therapy are skill testing cards unlike anything you'll find in standard these days.

A child that plays a lot of magic. Borrowed deck doesn't really factor into it that much.

I'd argue that winning with Infect doesn't necessarily correlate to skill.

Trolling.

I do agree with the complexity issue for the older cards. That'd be the appeal to me to play Modern/Legacy, you get rewarded for sitting on 1 deck and really learning and tweaking it.

Yup, happened over the weekend. It's dumb, but will probably stick around $700 anyway. Tabernacle has proven that legacy cards, even fringe ones, can sustain a price that high.

Lol reserve list. Moat is what, a sometimes sideboard card in miracles and played nowhere else? 500$ because the world is running out of copies, surely good for the game.

My brother traded for and destroyed like 40 Moats when we were younger. He hated that card with a passion. Had a binder full of Moat-Shreds.

Moat has been a very expensive card since the early days of the game, but it has also fallen by the wayside. In many ways Humlity (also reserved but very inexpensive) is a lot better. It punishes all the same etb creatures, while also stopping flyers and all of the shenanigans in decks like affinity.

Moat's popularity is entirely a response to Eldrazi, since it is difficult for them to interact with enchantments and it stops all of their win conditions besides Endbringer. It has no business being any more expensive than it was.

I play both lands and miracles. Moat isn't nearly as good in miracles, as tabernacle is in lands.

Lands has a good natural matchup against miracles, and tabernacle creates a solid matchup against eldrazi. Good matchup against 29% of the field (mtgtop8), seems decent for a "fringe deck"

Unsure why lands isn't more popular. I play the version with abrupt decay, so its pretty solid against chalice and counterbalance also.

I think lands isn't more popular because it doesn't have a ton of overlap with other decks and due to the high cost of tabernacle.

The new Thalia is pretty sweet. Wondering what she'll do to humans and coco in standard and whether she'll make the cut in Death and Taxes. Waste landing fetches seems pretty sweet and she doesn't die to -1 effects.

Unless something drastic happens, I think it makes Bant CoCo Humans the best deck in standard until CoCo rotates.

Heylel, how'd you like Mox Boarding House?

I'm surprised she's in a regular Standard legal set and not some other product. WotC doesn't print cards that efficiently interfere with your opponent's resources hardly ever anymore.

10/10 would rare draft every time.

Humans in standard plays zero 3 drop creatures. I like the First Strike she has and it combos well with buffs like Always Watching and Gryff's Boon, but she's still small and legendary so sweepers get her like every other dork in the deck. Bant Humans I guess she's a tool but I don't know what matchup you want her for.

Is her effect enough of an impact in Modern?

I play Lands too. It's not a fringe deck, but Tabernacle is certainly a fringe card. It's played in one place: Lands. And people don't play Lands more often because Tabernacle is the most expensive card in the format. I think we're both in total agreement that the deck really needs it to function.

I liked the black splash fine until Tireless Tracker came around. Having a good substitute for Dark Confidant in the main colors made splashing black lose some appeal. The Decay version is great, though. I'll likely go back and forth.

3-0-1 for the night with vintage Painter. Beat Eldrazi twice, Shops once, drew with Mentor. Fun fun.
