the short stories on their website.. but yes, I doYou read the novels! NERD.
Sure there is, the oil could have found its way into the blind eternities, infecting the otherwise neutral eldrazi and making them into what they are now. They might have been docile beings before being warped into their current incarnation. The oil creating the desire to feed on mana and warp worlds to their image.I don't see how the Eldrazi could have anything to do with Phyrexia without major retcons or just straight shitting on the only worthwhile story the game has ever told.
Yawgmoth/Thran -> Brother's War -> Tolaria/Bloodline Project -> Legacy/Weatherlight has absolutely no place for the Eldrazi to fit in. I'm sure the two concepts will show up in the same block at some point but there's no way they share any type of origin or history that would make sense.
Phyrexia the plane existed before Yawgmoth but as a "perfect" mechanical ecosystem. Phyrexians themselves originated from Yawgmoth whose story has already been told. There's not really a way to toss eldritch biological horrors into the mix even prior to the established lore. I miss Dominaria.
There must always be an Emerakul.Aether appears on multiple planes, in different forms, but is tied to the blind eternities. If I remember right, the aether on Mirrodin was readily corrupted by the Phyrexian Oil. The second set of Kaladesh is "Aether Revolt." Will be interesting to see if killing off two of the Eldrazi Titans has an effect on the Aether on various planes, since Ugin made sure to point out we don't actually know what purpose the Eldrazi serve in the "ecosystem" of the multiverse.
Maybe the Aether that powers Kaladesh's devices starts to run out without 2/3rds of the Titans converting Colored Mana=>Aether.

Been busy and at work now but there was no disease. It was a degenerative sickness caused by exposure to powerstones (ie radiation). Lesions, deformities, etc. With the first generation of phyrexians there was also no gene splicing or anything fancy. Just literal grafting of biological or mechanical enhancements to a normal human/abhuman. Phyrexians as we know them weren't even a thing until some unknown point between Yawgmoth fleeing dominaria and the brothers war.the short stories on their website.. but yes, I do

Also, yawgmoth didn't totally 'create' the phyrexians. He adapted an existing plague/disease to slowly turn the Thran into what we think of as phyrexians. He was kind of a gene splicer that took the disease plus a few other things and combined everything into the phyrexians. Maybe that original disease mutated in some other way and that is related to the eldrazi.
I just don't think they would have called it 'Great Work' specifically if they weren't planning to tie them together somehow. It may, or may not, be a new development of the oil. This could just be some kind of offshoot thing. It doesn't have to fit into their old storyline. New Phyrexia was unrelated to Yawgmoth, it just showed what the oil can do when left on it's own.
Eh, there were no dual lands in 4th. So if you have them and they have white borders, they are either Unlimited or Revised. Ie, possibly worth quite a lot more than you might have thought!White. Revised and 4th.
Kuro said:Unfortunately no GenCon for me this year, definitely going next year as they're rereleasing my old flame (Legend of the Five Rings) there.
I miss when they used to release From the Vault at GenCon, and you'd have to try to figure out what random weird criteria was required to get a copy that year. One year it was basically "don't be an asshole to a judge."

GenCon is the only Con I'd ever really consider going to. Maybe next year.
