That sounds off. It sounds break even at best and I'd be surprised if they didn't take a small loss at those numbers. If we assume they get packs at $2 cost that leaves $5 profit for 4th-8th after payout and product. $2 is about right IIRC I think it might be as low as $1.80 a pack depending but I don't think it's lower. That would be absolutely insane payout unless it's some special event. If it's a store that does a business via food and drinks and shit I could see it but they would have to be next to a military base with a ton of magic playing baby military who throw money around like Saudi Princes (which is depressingly likely).

The store I play at in AR has stupid high payouts for things like pre-releases and better than anywhere else I've ever played for average events but they don't come close to touching that.
Like I said, it's retarded and I don't know how they do it. My only guess is Wizards ships them free shit to give away? It's a pretty busy store so maybe they get some kind of promo deal for running like 8 draft pods every Friday.

$72 a box is what you get when you buy direct from Wizards these days. But even advanced and advanced plus stores usually need to supplement their direct orders with stuff from regional middleman distributors, and those are 80-85 dollars a box.

It's possible I guess but not something I've heard of. The only events I've ever played that paid last place were pre-release and release events though. Not calling you a liar but I'll have to see a sign or something before I'll believe that's a real thing without some kind of catch. That's insane.

Yeah the math there just doesn't add up. He must be selling below market and assuming the crowds will make up his profits on singles and other sales.

Whatever it is I'll take it. Haven't really played since like Ravnica/Time Spiral so I'm pretty rusty and it's nice to still get a couple packs even if I scrub out and go 0-3.

I have been playing MTG for about 9-10 months now with a large group of friends. It went from casual to fairly competitive between us, holding out own tournaments etc.
I decided i'm going to go to my LGS and try my hand at FNM Modern.

I will be bringing this list.

Norin The Weenie (Standard MTG Deck)

I have played my older version of it and it goes off really fast. If I get Purphoros its usually game over. Trying some new stuff in it like falconer to finish with Champion of The Perish or Ajani's Pridemate. Herald of Anafenza is in there to speed up Purphoros.

Input?

It's 2.03 a pack wholesale direct from wizards and more like 2.20 a pack from distributors. the 64 packs for 120 dollars thing is insane.

Holy shit the people in these 8-4 Khans draft queues on MTGO are fucking terrible right now. I strongly suggest playing some events this weekend if you have an MTGO account.

Figuratively speaking, it is literally like beating up retarded children for their cards.

I haven't seen anything saying it will definitely be banned anywhere. Early reports suggest it may be too good in Modern, but it's too early to know for sure. It has to prove itself and then people start trying to take it down. It's just begun to prove it's power level in the last week alone. They will give us a couple weeks to see if people can beat it once it's a known entity before they'd ban it.

This is the first standard tournament that it might be good enough, but so far the people playing it aren't dominating the entire tournament. Some are doing good, but it's still beatable.

No one knows. They only do bannings the day after prereleases, so it will be 3 months.

It seems to shit on Green Devotion strategies so I'm all for letting it live for a while in Standard.
