So much butt hurt and stupid in this thread. The game meant nothing. It was a pleasure to watch the Durant and LeBron back and forth. I guess we couldn't just enjoy watching two future hall of fame players go at it in their prime.

I hope we get Thunder v Heat finals with everybody healthy.

Ya Thunder/Heat rematch would be awesome.

Like I said sometimes games just go this way. Fischer was 5 for 5 from 3 tonight and he only made 5 threes total in the entire 2012 Finals. Great game to watch though, as a LeBron fan.

Gaige, you make me laugh dude. You're opinions on LeBron are pretty much 100% spot on, but you're so blinded by the heat that you overrate pretty much everything else about the team. That might sound insulting and I don't really mean it to be. You're just a total Heat homer that understands how good LeBron is.

Durant is playing out of his mind this year. Just as good as LeBron. The idea everyone threw around a couple years ago was LeBron is better overall but Durant is a better "scorer". I mostly think that mentality is bullshit since scoring is far and away the most overrated portion of the game. This year it's true though. Durant is so efficient offensively. He's putting up probably the best offensive seasons since Jordan.

The argument between the two is easy for me simply because of just how long LeBron has been elite, but Durant is still young and if he can play this well for an extended stretch, there's no reason why he won't win a couple titles and be considered right at the same level. I'm not saying that's actually going to happen, just that if it does there isn't too much that separates the two of them from a production standpoint.

Oh I completely agree. Durant has really closed the gap, he is playing out of his mind this year. I just wonder if he can keep it up, especially if Westbrook comes back. It'll be an interesting second half of the season.

Either way I completely expect KD to win the MVP this year. It just feels a lot like the Rose MVP year. Voter fatigue, LeBron is playing less minutes, Heat are losing winnable games and Durant has been in a crazy zone for like 12 games straight.

This is the closest thing we've had to Bird/Magic since those two left the game. They were both better playmakers than Durant/Lebron (who are, in turn, more athletic), but my point is that both players should be celebrated. You don't need to degrade one guy to promote the other. I have nothing bad to say about Lebron since he developed a jumpshot...he's in my Top 4 all-time now. Durant could easily be in my Top 10 of all-time players if he just maintains the level of the last few seasons. If this extra gear is his next level, he could maybe jump into that top tier. At any rate, both players are amazing...I'll just enjoy watching Lebron more when he's not playing with that dickwad, Wade.

If Durant wins it this year, it will be because he is playing better than LeBron, not some stupid voter fatigue excuse. He has been the best player this year. Whether that continues and translates into a title is a whole other thing.

Absolutely, unless Durant has a large drop off then the MVP is 100% earned. This isn't Malone over Jordan or Barkley over Jordan or anyone over Jordan really. Durant has been flat out the best player this year. If you want to say it's because Lebron's not trying or that Lebron's been consistently great for more years, then that's great but both should be irrelevant. You win it based on what you've actually done this year, and Durant has done more with less.

It's not an insult to say Lebron isn't always the best at everything 100% of the time.

As an OKC fan, I worry about the Heat, Spurs, Pacers, Warriors, and lately the Blazers.

Fucking nets, so shitty Durant doesn't even play the fourth and his streak ends.

Hehe I saw bits of that match. Ibaka also sit the fourth and he was at 12/12 for shooting. Brooks could have left him on the floor until he missed one! Damned be reasonable people...

Durant is probably the MVP but he is not in Lebron's league. Do not kid yourself. This is not a legitimate debate.

I'm a huge Lebron fanboy and even I can admit Durant has earned the MVP so far this year. Dude is just playing out of his damn mind. I'm still pissed at the nets for sucking so bad that he lost his streak because he didn't need to play the 4th quarter.

Durant would have to keep this up for a few more seasons to be considered that level.

Why not? Because you say so? Because 50/40/90 guys that take 20 shots a game don't grow on trees. They're both incredibly productive players. This is the best Durant has ever played. LeBron has been at that level for a really long time. That's the argument on his side.

By the time Durant retires he will be considered a better player than Lebron.
