Durant deserved MVP. Guess Cavs couldn't win a game without having a ridiculous night from 3.

We've now entered the dark period of the sports year. Ugh, someone freeze me now and thaw me out when football starts.

So satisfying. Haters can eat a dick. The NBA made this happen. Said on page one of this thread what the result would be and enjoyed the fuck out of it.

Cavs made the Warriors earn it. Don't think there's ever been 4 better performances in one finals than we saw from KD, Steph, Lebron, and Irving. Super high level basketball.

I said it at the time...they should have kept Wiggins and his rookie contract. Would have given them so much more flexibility.

This isn't really true. The Cavs have the highest payroll in the league. Swap Love's 20 mil cap hit for Wiggy's 6 and the Cavs are still in the exact same position going into the luxury tax to resign JR and Thompson. They also won a championship so I don't think you can look back on the deal with any regret from their perspective.

I wonder if Cleveland tries to ship out Love this summer and if they'll try to re-assemble the banana boat crew.
Wouldn't you? Love showed up one game maybe one and a half games in the finals. Love is a solid regular season guy but the playoffs just seem to be a little big of a stage for him.

I don't remember their exact cap situation from last season, but they could have signed a big free agent (assuming the difference between Love and Wiggins) before re-signing JR and Thompson, right?

You're right that any Cleveland fan would take the one championship and be happy. Whether or not it was the better long-term move is irrelevant from that perspective.

I think they could have for Tristan but JR might not have had enough time with the Cavs.

Kind of like Klay Thompson, only really showed up for 2 games in the Finals. Green didn't exactly light it up either. Was mostly the Durant and Curry show.

Thompson's job this series was to play D and he did that exceptionally well, I have no doubt if KD & Steph went cold Thompson would have been called upon to score. Looking at Love's stat line for the series he actually has better stats than I thought, but not close to what I would call "BIG 3" worthy. Also, Green did exactly what was expected of him this series and he managed to not get thrown out so +++ for him.

Agreed, I think Klay's value that series is really underappreciated. He guarded Kyrie, Lebron, and Love all at different times. For him being able to switch off pick and rolls and guard anyone versus with their different lineups was huge. Love didn't have a great series offensively, but had a few steals and decent rebounding, especially on the offensive side. As much credit as Kyrie gets for his offensive performance this series, I think he had one of the biggest overlooked mistakes in game 3. After KD hits that dribble up 3, Kyrie has a chance to go 2 for 1 and instead dribbles around forever and misses a step back 3.
