The current value of AD to Zen is pretty bad, but hopefully it will lessen somewhat after founders blow through their 600k/2 million AD that came with their founder packs.

Yeah it's open beta which for F2P generally means release. They're not wiping, it's basically released, just with the open beta notation it lets the fanboys use that as an excuse for anything.

Fun game, picked a big sword fighter guy. Kind of fun, but it became a bit boring since nothing seemed fancy. Just swinging a sword, but I made it only to level 7.

LvL 25 Guardian Fighter here. Blocking full damage while attacking and having self heals is fun. PvP is lol.

Besides some ovious performance issues most likely related to open beta status, F2P and servers getting hammered, the gameplay feels beyond retarded : locking your character to the ground during the casting animations makes the combat flow very jerky. I really thought no one would ever do that again since Aion and TERA happened, guess I was wrong. I'm playing a cleric and every lock-in animation feels like you're watching a movie with an automatic 1 second pause every 3 seconds. "I totally enjoy getting stuck in my character animation everytime I cast some shit" said no one ever.

Guardian Fighter can block most knock downs. Its fun watching your whole group get knocked down / back while you stand there attacking/blocking.

The game was far, far, FAR more fun without the activation root. They put that in and I walked away. It might still be fun overall, but it's so frustrating knowing how much better it could have been.

Got a Control Wizard up to level 16. I assumed I would be crowd control in dungeons, but effectively 1) everything dies in 5 hits; CC is negligible. 2) CC spells do not work on bosses; you don't even get partials where the dps component of your spell hits and the disable part misses, and ray of enfeeblement the higher level debuff/dd doesn't work on bosses either.

I'm rerolling Guardian Fighter. although solo bosses never touching me + force choke was cool.

Ray of Enfeeblement does work on bosses, at least that's what I read. The choke doesn't though and that's a big dmg nerf, can swap it out before the fight though I guess. The class does a bit of control but mostly it's controlling adds as I said earlier, other than that it's a DPS class. I like it, got the lightning spell a few levels ago, it does a fuckton of dmg but it's like a shitty line aoe with terrible range, so it requires pretty intense positionning. Since I need to almost be in melee range for the magic missile feat though it's no big deal.

Yeah that's what I've read in basically every post on the forums, leveling as GWF is terrible. Gets a lot better once you reach 30-35 and start getting paragon shit but before that it's terrible, low damage low survivability. Eventually ends up being really strong supposedly.

It has not been enjoyable at all as a GWF. I thought maybe it was me but after upgrading all of my armor and slotting each piece...still sucks.

I cant tank dps or heal. I seriously do at least 60% less damage than everyone else. Time to roll wizard or rogue.

Why are they trickster rogues, if they are pure dps?

But yeah, rogue is "kill all of the things" for sure. no question on their effect.

how does CC work in this? break on contact?
I'm never sure if I should be staying on the boss or killing shit that is on the healer/wiz.

I've actually been enjoying this a lot more then I thought I would. Leveled a DC to 60 and been running the epic dungeons. I end up at the top of the healing, damage taken, and middle of the damage done charts. I despise grouping with Great Weapon Fighters since they just love to mash knockbacks and ruin positioning but for a free to play game that's just passing time between Wildstar's release this has been a pretty fun few days.
