woodelf rogue can start with 16% crit chance with 20 dex.
10 from dex, 5 from base, and 1% elven.
My 40 rogue has 26.9%. crit.
5% base, 3% feat, 9% attributes, 8.9% crit rating.
Do you see the problem?
each damage multiplier is independent.
But crit % all rolls together.
So base damage, skill damage, str bonus, crit damage, combat advantage, direct damage buffs= total damage
So when you add 1 str, you are increasing 9 to 10.
When you add 1 dex, you are increasing 49 to 50. or something like that. a drop in the bucket.
each point str is significantly more impactful.
Str increases your damage across the board. 1 point gives more damage then cha or dex.
its also not situational. it gives more, and gives it all the time.
Dex gives crit, which is nice. but again, unless you take the executioner talents each point is very much worth less the each point of str.
Cha gives CA bonus. again, situational.
Secondary factors.
str gives stam regen and dot resist.
dot resist is meh. Stam lets you roll out of melee attacks more.
dex is aoe resist and deflection. aoe resist doesnt mean much, since you do need to fully avoid most. deflection is at .5, CHA gives deflection at 1 per.
So really. DEX is the least useful of the 3 main stats for rogue. Str is primary, cha is number 2, and dex is third.
