Hurm, possibly a philosophical question here..

Today I log in and see that the first rounds of AD/Gold sellers are spamming the zone chat in PE. People are, of course, bitching about AD/Gold sellers. But in reality, they're just selling AD for cash, which if you wanted AD you could also just purchase Zen and buy AD on the open market with it. So wouldn't this just be the free markets expressing themselves in game sa "buying AD for cash" is actually a built in game mechanic? Right now they're selling 1mil AD for $16, if you bought them through the in game market this would run you around 2400 zen. So they're just undercutting the market by 1/3. They're the Walmart of AD.
its hard to be upset with gold sellers when the company behind the game is a gold seller.

Well it's a Cryptic game anyways, so i don't think anyone's surprised it's falling to pieces after a few days and a closer look.

Axeman is pretty spot on with his assesment of the game. While I was enjoying it to some extent, the ease in which it is exploitable will be the downfall.

Every one of those features that Axeman brought up is to generate revenue, and even if only 1% of the players took advantage of it, it would still be a nice constant stream of revenue if the game would be played longer than to just wait till the other MMOs come out.

The foundry allows near infinite revenue stream pouring out at an astronomical pace, it allows content to be skipped from 4-60, and all of these ZEN market items that they are counting on for revenue will just be bypassed due to the nature of foundrys.

You dont need to worry about respeccing, you dont need to worry about dying, you dont need to worry about a mount to get you around, you dont have to worry about bag space, you dont have to worry about farming currency....

Foundry bypasses all of that and will assure Perfect World a complete lack of stream of revenue and when the game fails, they will just have wasted this huge opportunity and many years of development time and blame the consumers for not wanting their product...which in turn leads to less companies wanting try another MMO due to all the massive casualties the MMO developers are causing.

Once again we have a development studio that is going to have another massive failure due to their incompetance.

I mean literally, sit in the Protectors Enclace and every group forming is foundry, foundry, foundry, foundry. Each and every one of them is doing the "Too EZ lol" foundry where you literally walk 10 ft from the entrance and cast AoEs and the mobs cant touch you to level from 15-60. Most start at 15 because thats when they get AE spells, but you can have a lvl 60 group with a level 4 and powerlvl them up to level 60 in a matter of no time.

I get that F2P/P2W hurdle is a lot for people to overcome, so this game is going to get a lot of flack.

However, is it me or is this the most "feature complete" MMO release in recent memory? Dungeon Finder, Guild Finder/Advertising, Barber Shop, Dye System, Transmog/Alt Gear Appearance, Companion System, Fully Voiced Quest Dialogue, Custom Content Design System, UI Customization, One World Server Structure (at least after launch)... I'm sure I missed a few things but that's an impressive list. I get that this game isn't for everyone and some of these feature are a little rough around the edges, but I can't think of another AAA MMO that's launched with those features at launch. If there was, it sure as hell wasn't free.

The game is fun. I give props to Cryptic to creating a good game, with great features and not charging me a box and/or sub to experience it.

Reinstalled this and made a rogue. This is actually fun. PVP is actually fluid how did these jokers manage to do that when every other company since warcraft has produced shit?

This is how I feel about it. I'm actually disappointing that the game doesn't have an open world in the more traditional MMO sense. Im diggin' the combat on my gaurdian, and as Xaxius said, the features all there and the game is fun.

Not just you, I get the feeling the stains complaining about "P2W" in server chat are too busy bitching to actually play the game.

At 60 now with my Cleric, have to do guild groups (joined some random-invite folx who seem quite decent) or sit in the queue for a LONG time. Having the bonus chest at the end means that it is really only worthwhile to do organized runs during Dungeon Delve events, which is actually kinda nice. You are guaranteed a purple drop if you manage to finish during those AND I don't feel bad about not running dungeons all day and just plan to do it during the magic hours.

Dungeons are gated based on your gearscore and then there are Tiers within that system as well. Currently I can only do two of the Elites but soon two more will open up if the loot gods stop hating me.

The real key for longevity will be when they open up PVE and PVP Gauntlgrym which is their big quasi-experimental hybridization of PVE and PVP in daily queue encouraged whatsit.

If they add in more classes and such on a regular schedule they could do very well for themselves with this, certainly they seem to have learned much from the STO and Champions experiences.

My cleric is 10, my GWF 13, I just liked the guardian more out of the alts I made so that's what I'm leveling now. My mage is more fun I think but the queues as DPS are fucking horrible and I don't feel like bothering to find a guild. Also I have to respec my feats cause I somehow fucked up, but fuck paying 70k AD to do it I don't even have 70k yet. At this point I'd probably just delete the char and remake a new mage with more optimized stats/skills based on my experience and just pl in the foundry, but I don't know if I wanna grind. Having fun on the guardian though so it's alright. Did the pit arena skirmishes just now for the daily, lvl 38 with lvl 20 armor like a boss. I really need to find new shit before I do the dungeons, downside of the powerlvling I guess.

I was looking at the GWF feats and it seems like you can make a tank out of him, though Qhue says you really can't. I haven't looked at the Guardian trees yet, but do you know how they compare?

I couldn't bring myself to write that post, but you said a lot of the shit I was thinking. Thanks.

The game COULD be good, and the model seems solid. They are not achieving their potential, and I doubt they ever will. I do think the art and UI guys are doing a good job, but it's hard to hand out kudos to anyone else. Level, quest, and encounter design are all weak. They've got a lot of useful systems in place and working well, but they do so in an environment lacking balance and complexity.

You can hold aggro, but you get trashed if you try to facetank and GWF's skill is sprinting around which has no invuln frames like roll/teleport/slide and doesn't move you that fast either, so it's probably a nightmare to tank a boss with a GWF at higher levels when the dmg is actually noticeable. Might be doable though I don't know, but from my perspective, this isn't a case like TERA with the warrior which was a fully able tank that required a lot more skill and also made the mobs move around more, the GWF looks like a really poor tank.

On the tree though I'm going with what seems to be the normal high end tank build, which is basically like old school vanilla wow tanking with 31arms. It's 21 pt in the DPS feats and then 5pts for deflection and shit. You don't really need feats because of block and the AC provided by the shield itself alone, however threat can be a struggle so you increase your DPS a lot to maintain. Also doubles as a nice pvp and leveling spec.

People keep praising the Foundry feature which is basically a map creation tool where you can make a dungeon and allow others to play in it. I don't buy into that;players are not game developers and can't make content that meets even the lowest conceivable standard, so I expect the hurrah will die down once people start to realize that all of these dungeons are actually horrible. There's no approval process, you can just make a big room with a turd-shaped cluster of treasure chests in the middle and run the "dungeon" over and over again, which people are exploiting the shit out of. Meanwhile, the game itself has practically no meaningful content after the leveling phase; it's just a collection of dungeons, about twelve or so, and then they have three difficulty tiers (including normal which is depleted while leveling). The endgame consists exclusively of extra heroic 5-mans, the world is your oyster!
I'm not adressing the rest of the post (good points in it though), only the bolded part: You vastly underestimate the dedication some people put into stuff like the foundry and the resulting quality of their efforts.

Thats what "the game begins at the level cap" gets you. The endgame as the only goal has been so ingrained, people would do this despite it being obvious that there isnt actually a Cornucopia of content for max level players. Nobody realizes or cares that they skip the game part (be it good or bad) with a grind that has no destination besides the almighty 60 on the character sheet.

So you have to be level 15 to reply to someone?

Also there is a bug in my friends list. It shows no friends, but when I try to add a friend it says they are already my friend. Logging all the way out fixed it, yay.

Do you have to be a certain level to get the Founder's Pack on your character?

Nevermind, you have to complete the first newbie quest to unlock it.

It doesnt matter if someone spent 100 hours developing the greatest foundry that could ever be developed, if you have 2 foundries....1 being an epic foundry that a team spent hundreds of hours developing, or you had a foundry that had 5 ogres in a crated that could be AE'd from safefy....which do you think would be played more?

This entire game could be considered a well done foundry and what do you see people in chat looking to do? "Too EZ lol"

They spent years making this game, and the most played instance in the game was one that was created in 10 mins flat. What does that tell you?

This game proves that the majority of players dont care anything at all about the journey from point A to B, only getting to point B as soon as possible. Weve seen that in every game played thus far, its just much more noticeable here. Even the "uber" Guild Wars 2 guild from here did the same shit. As soon as they were aware that escorting Yaks was the easiest and fastest method to leveling, they did it until it got nerfed.

calling them the majority is misleading. They are the most vocal for sure but for every guys that talks in an area chat, etc, theres 2 or more that never say anything at all.
