I remember thinking this game would be awesome. Turned out to be the most boring and linear game ever. Fuck you Peter you lying cunt.
I don't get the hate for Molyneux games. The Black & White and Fable series are all fun games that I enjoyed playing. They're fun little God Games & RPGs that are solid and enjoyable on their own merits.
Judging them based on outlandish stuff a Publisher/Developer said while hyping up the games is just silly. You're supposed to just roll your eyes and not buy into that extreme level of bullshit and just judge the game for what it actually is.
They aren't the best games ever, but they certainly aren't the horrible shit that some people try to make them out to be.

I think Fable was a fine game, but I think for similar reasons I liked Total War: Empire, I missed all the hype and played them much later after all the patches and such came out, so it was completely serviceable in my opinion.

The data Lionhead has said otherwise, and there are fans that do want it. What's the harm in that?
It just doesn't seem to be a game that inspires great love from its players compared to other titles. It's two sequels seemed to be met with mixed reviews as well. It seems odd to me that this would be seen was worthy of re release and be worth the effort. You're quite right though, anyone can re release any of their games whenever they like.
By all means though, if they can remove some silly people from their money, congrats I guess.
I was relatively young when I played Fables and I have extremely fond memories of it. It was just 'fun' to play to put it simply.

Fable was the first game I had purchased that felt like I wasted the money. It wasn't a bad game, but it certainly wasn't 50 dollars worth of entertainment imo at the time. RPG games of a similar nature had much more replay and overall content than Fable shipped with at the time. Ah well, the SS above does look nice, but certainly not nice enough to play the game again. I mean... slow time literally trivialized the entire game.
I do think they do inspire fervent love among some core fan base. Like many other games, I guess. Ultimately the sales of the re-release will determine how many of those dedicated Fable fans there are.
Anyway, Fable 1 and 2 have pretty good reviews, for all the understandable whinging about promises fulfilled. I know metacritic shouldn't be the ultimate arbiter, but 85 and 87 metacritic are pretty damn good.

Did you play B&W when it was first released? The game didn't work. There is a difference between not delivering on hype (how good a game is claimed to be) and not delivering on features (what you told people was actually in the game).
B&W 3 (or was it 6?) was really good though.

Casuals love Fable though. Its like the Halo of action rpgs, in xbox era.
They didnt hear the hype or false promises. just saw the advertising, and it was one of their first action rpgs.
And if you can put aside the bullshit, that really is about what it is. Halo for action rpgs. its good and enjoyable for what it is. nothing amazing.

Fable was a decent game. Massively over-hyped? Certainly. Bad? I don't think so. That said, there are certainly hundreds of games that I would rather see remade first.
