I think with the queue implemented, and the initial rush, and everyone back to work after Holiday weekend, it has been easier to get online on Ragefire, and therefore, people put in more time, and got more vested into Ragefire, and don't want to start over.

There is a way to join channels across servers but i have no idea the dark secrets to do so.

I didn't realize bard songs didn't effect pets. Guess it's not too late to box an enchanter instead.
