Something I don't get about this whole deal.

If some middle manager at a large company was caught on video doing the same thing as Rice, nobody would be calling for the CEO of the company to resign.

This is a football league, how are they held responsible for what their players (employees of the NFL) do when not playing or doing NFL stuff (training, official appearances etc.) If some dude at McDonalds did this they wouldn't be calling for the manager's head. The only thing I can think of is maybe these people are more known or public?
Your analogy sucks.

If some middle manager at a large company was caught on video beating the shit out of his wife and then the CEO said, hey buddy take two week vacation and then come on back and start working again. THEN the video was released to the public.

You're sure as fucking shit better believe the entire world would be calling for the CEO to resign.

This already happened, except not to a human to a dog. CEO got caught on tape in another elevator abusing a dog ,and was forced to resign.

Abuse is abuse, and when you see it graphically portrayed any sane person will be disgusted.

Yes I know, it was actually related to the NFL since the guy was a CEO of a company that catered to many NFL stadiums.

It's strange the double standards we have tho. As long as we can't see it happening on video we seem to be fine with letting celebs off with abuse.

Mike Tyson is loved right now, and went to jail for rape. Wasn't kicked out of Boxing, or anything.

Vick is worse? lol
Do you really think this was the first and only time Rice hit a woman?

What is Rice? An employee of the NFL. There lines of separation between a single player(aka: employee) and the CEO are huge, (coaches, owner of the team, etc.) All the rest are exempt but it's the head of the entire organization that should be held responsible and lose his job for something that was done years ago by an employee?

There is no doubt in my mind that Rice has done this multiple times before. After he knocks her out, he is pretty much un remorseful on the whole incident. He even kicks her when shes on the ground to see if she was still alive.

How are you not understanding this?

The CEO is held responsible for his pathetic "punishment" of said employee, not what the employee actually did.

The guy was probably pretty heavily inebriated like they said in the report. He's basically trained his whole life to lack remorse and emotions when physically assaulting someone. It actually doesn't surprise me that he acts that way. I'd like to believe it was his first time doing something like that.

So Goodell has to punish people appropriately? Who determines what is pathetic and what isn't? You? Me? Mob rule? Because that is what's happening right now. You have every group under the sun coming out and saying he should've done this or should have to step down. People are treating him almost as if he's just as guilty as rice (both lose their jobs because of this)

If I commit a crime I don't expect to be punished where I work, that is done by the law not by the owner of company where I work. It may happen that I get fired at work but should it be expected that the CEO should step down?

Yes. It is his job to handle out penalties/fines/suspensions in the NFL. What determines it's pathetic is obviously his actions after the video was released. He thought a two game suspension was good enough and then once the public KNEW what happened he suspended him indefinitely.

We're not talking about Goodell giving him a fucking prison sentence you moron. God damnit.

Ray Rice spat in face of fiancee twice before punch, Outside The Lines reports - ESPN

"The first thing he [Rice] said is, 'She's intoxicated. She drank too much. I'm just trying to get her to the room,'" one staffer said.

"When she regained consciousness she said, 'How could you do this to me? I'm the mother of your kid,'" that same staffer told "Outside the Lines."
reading this account makes me think he has done this before. I still don't know if what the guards are saying is true, but the description they give is he immediately tried to cover it up w/o hesitation. Add to that his remorseless reaction on the video makes me think it is not his first time.

Well then you are a idiot or do not work with any company that cares about its corporate image. If I did something that became public and brought tarnish to my companies reputation I would be fired post haste.

I never said that it was, that is the law's job as I stated.

However it seems that it is Goodell's job to see that he is appropriately punished within the ream of the NFL. So he gave a punishment, then increased the punishment to indefinitely but that isn't good enough in the eyes of (insert person here) and should have to resign.

Got it thanks.
