Start doing personal fouls like the NBA. That would stop the defensive backs from holding and interfering on every play.

I just don't enjoy this product as much as I did before they started protecting quarterbacks and receivers. There were a couple hits this weekend that were good, clean smashes, but because you can't even put your helmet anywhere on the QB now, they were roughing penalties. I'm okay with outlawing helmet to helmet, but a clean shot to the abdomen?
I don't know...it's just not as enjoyable knowing how handicapped the defense is these days.

I have to agree the tackling rules for QBs are fucking awful. That's what happens though when owners are paying these assholes 130 million.

I think this is Matthews last year with the Chargers.

The tackling rules for everyone are fucking retarded. The Steelers made 2 great clean hard hits in the open field on one drive that got flagged and dragged the Ravens to the End Zone. "Defenseless Receiver" is the worst bullshit ever. You have to wait for them to catch the ball and make a few moves before you can tackle them? What the fuck?

Any predictions on Colts and Eagles? I know the layman's pick is Colts but I feel like Colts offense is pretty one dimensional without a running game and the Eagles defense is pretty decent. Feels like they should be able to hold Indy to 17-23 points or so while Foles grinds through the Indy defense and puts up a couple scores to win.

The worst part is they can't go back. Once you make these changes "for safety" you can't revoke them. They can call fewer of the DB grabbing illegal contact stuff, but they can't back off the shit designed to get rid of big hits. Cat is out of the bag, if they try to go back they're just saying they don't care about player safety.

Yeah that was the best game Cutler has ever had, pretty much. Guess that secondary revamp is not going as planned for the 9ers. Two of Kaeperbro's picks were just really great plays by the Bear rookie. The other two were completely on him.

And Brosyar, if I can sit through the entire Packers Jets shitshow, you can damn well sit through the entire bears game. Be a real North fan, not one of those fairweather California fans.

The tackling changes aren't even really for safety, it's so legally the league can say they did something as they continue to get the shit sued out of them by the players as the years go on. All of the lawsuits right now are mainly for retired players, every year then there are players that will be retiring that are going to have to sue to get theirs as the current settlement is just divided up by those already retired.

Thankfully I just have two daughters so I don't have to think about if I want my kids to even play, 2 of my neighbors kids are already having knee and back issues at 14 and 15 years old respectively. Soccer = Sport of the Future

This was the only time I turned it off because I was just getting sick of the penalties. I was just having zero enjoyment watching the thing. I don't mind watching the Bears getting their ass kicked, but I do mind watching football that has 5 minutes of bullshit and then commercials on top of it between every play

I guess as a bears fan you are not used to watching them on national television! /drumfill

Seriously, the penalties were ridiculous, but most of them were justified. Just a complete lack of discipline by both teams, though the Niners were way less focused. Kaeperbro thinks he is Tom Brady and can just get flags on demand. That only works for Brady (or Wilson when in Seattle).

Like it mattered in the end. Steelers were terrible in that game.

If only all defenses could play as sound football as the Bengals.

God damn was that 2nd half meltdown by the 9ers hard to watch. The only consolation was the Seahawks losing too. If the Broncos light them up next weekend it will make me so happy.
It really was. 16 accepted penalties for 120 yards, 3 turnovers, 6 first downs from penalties. They've shit the bed before, but I've never seen such a complete team meltdown by them like last night.
