What the fuck is happening? Ray Rice punches a bitch who border line deserved it; gets cut and suspended indefinitely. AP beats a child, and he's playing Sunday?
I don't have a problem with what either of them did.

I think there is more to it than that. I give Peterson the benefit of the doubt that he was doing what he thought was best for his kid and didn't realize that he was doing that much damage. If he did it again I would throw the book at him, but I don't really see any evidence of malicious intent as opposed to making a fist and punching somebody in the face.

The Vikings got smoked yesterday. No way in hell are they going to want to rely solely on their shitty QB play for the rest of the season.

@TM;

I was switched pretty often as a child. and I know people who still switch their kids. What AP did to that kid went way beyond what a normal switching does to a person. Honestly to have those marks a week after the switching it seems like AP went full apeshit on the four year old.

The NFL needs to market more to Latins though with most of them liking the Raiders I'm sure it's pretty hard to get them motivated with how bad the Raiders currently are. Hitting your wife or hitting your kid with an object such as a shoe, cloths hanger or belt is basically an accepted practice in their culture. The NFL is going about this way wrong, we should be seeing pics of AP in a sombrero drinking a Michelada and it would all be forgiven....

Perhaps. I also find that most people greatly exaggerate the spankings that they received as a kid. It could be that what Peterson did was what he thought he remembered his parents doing but your memories from childhood probably made those spankings seem a lot worse than they actually were from an adult perspective.

It's unclear to me how much he has been involved in this kid's upbringing but I wouldn't find it too shocking to learn that this was the first time he has ever spanked anyone.

While he may never meant that much harm done but he went way overboard. Not sure what sort of punishment is handed out in these sort of cases but its certainly is fitting charge if thats how the law reads

Fear not, Barry Sanders.....

KHOU 11 in Houston and FOX 9 in Minneapolis report that Peterson is being investigated for a second abuse case involving another one of his sons.
Hear that? It's Roger Goodell pouring himself another scotch...

New accusations: Peterson injured another son while disciplining 4-year-old

The latest incident allegedly occurred last June, while the boy, who lives out of state, was visiting Peterson at his gated home in Spring. A photo, allegedly texted by Peterson to the boy's mother, shows a head wound to the boy covered by two bandages. Other photos, allegedly taken weeks later, reveal a scar over his right eye.

The text messages also describe an exchange about what happened. They contain numerous misspellings and shorthand:

Mother: "What happened to his head?"

Peterson: "Hit his head on the Carseat."

Mother: "How does that happen, he got a whoopin in the car."

Peterson: "Yep."

Mother: "Why?"

Peterson: "I felt so bad. But he did it his self."

The text messages go on to show Peterson saying he was disciplining his son for cussing to a sibling.

"It's absolutely criminal," said Randy Burton, a former chief prosecutor of family crimes in Harris County, and founder of the advocacy group Justice for Children.

"You break the skin, you have bleeding, much less permanent scars, that is a crime," Burton said.
Just good old fashioned parenting folks. Why's the man gotta get all politically correct on a brother like this?

Update on new drug policy, from Schefter/Mortensen:

Upon agreement of term sheet for new drug policy, these players will be reinstated: Broncos WR Wes Welker, Rams WR Steadman Bailey, Cowboys DB Orlando Scandrick, Giants OL Eric Herman and former Vikings DE Spencer Nealy.
WRs Josh Gordon and former Colt LaVon Brazill will have their season-long suspensions reduced to 10 games.
Gordon continues to be allowed to work out at the Browns? training facility.
The seven above names are part of the estimated 20 who will be affected by the new policy once it is approved by the NFL, which is likely to occur in the next 24 hours.

Well, I'm glad Welker is getting out of the rickshaw, the poor Broncos just need all the help they can get.

Going to suck for Welker when he doesn't get a ring again this year. So many Superbowl caliber teams but no rings.

Sproles is fleet of foot.

Huge play by Sproles only for the team to stall and miss a field goal.
