I think that he will probably lay low for the rest of the season and then show up on some non-Vikings team next year at a greatly reduced salary.

Well the supposedly morally superior Ziggi wanted to retain him while it was still being sorted out. He only relented when all the beer companies went apeshit on him for it. I would imagine it comes down to what the sponsors are telling him behind closed meeting doors at this point. I would guess he wants him back on the roster (cap issues aside), but if the Vikes were smart, they would use this chance to outright cut him and let the player's union take the PR shitstorm for fighting for him. This is really going to be a huge test for the direction of the NFL Players Union, actually, between Rice and AP. In the past, they have always defended the player no matter the situation, but the mark of a good union is policing itself, so we will see what happens. The whole situation is toxic beyond believe and I am not sure what the conduct policy allows for, in terms of enforceable suspensions within the CBA.

My guess is that it'll range from time served + forfeiture of salary, to a 2-4 game suspension. And he will remain a Viking for the foreseeable future. I actually don't think this will become even half of what the Ray Rice case was.

I don't know if you can really say which is worse. I mean ... dude knocked his girlfriend unconscious. That is pretty high on the "ultimate shitlord" list. Then again whipping a child for something I'm sure was inconsequential isn't much better. He gets the benefit of it not being caught on tape and up on YouTube though.

The rank of who we care about is dogs then women then kids. Vick got shit on, rice will play again and win his lawsuit, Peterson will get a slap on the wrist and only because his shit happened at the same time as rices shit

true enough.

i just think AP went beyond beating sense into a kid, and into the land of systemic child abuse

What are you even talking about? Vick went through the legal system, served his time then was widely accepted by the NFL at large. Maybe not their fanbase but he was at least given a job. I would be absolutely shocked, stunned even, if Rice ever plays in the NFL again. Peterson will skate by pretty unscathed in my opinion.

hm is torturing and drowning multiple dogs worse or equal to knocking a women out with a punch to the jaw...

i dont know. Both, to me, should equal a lifetime ban from the NFL and forfeiture of the current year's earnings

I have no opinion on the matter personally because I have no details on the case, the only evidence of injury the public has seen are illegally obtained doctored photos.

You know if Gordon's rec. drug suspension wasn't changed earlier this year, there was going to be a situation where Ray Rice would have played in the NFL this season and Gordon would not have been able to.

Pot is clearly worse than domestic abuse.

Glad they came to their senses though. The next step will be letting them use marijuana for aches/pains rather than codine pills

AP committed a crime, no question. And the other reports that have come out make it seem like it's probably not the only time he's abused one of his children. Still though, I'm not exactly sure what prison time does. I think there are probably a lot of other men in Texas that do this same thing and it doesn't turn into a national story. Now, that by no means excuses the behavior, but what does more good here? Throwing the book at AP to send a message or letting him off and allowing him to (hopefully) change and become a vocal opponent of child abuse? I don't really know, but this is a much bigger societal issue than just what happens to the one guy.

I do not think a case of corporal punishment gone too far is anywhere on the same level as knocking some that's defenseless unconscious though. People have died from hits to the head.

"This season is Jacksonville's third straight 1-8 start."

Good god, you almost have to try to be that bad.
They are the Philadelphia 76ers of football. Sucking and grabbing assets.

The problem is they make draft picks like a drunk frat boy playing fantasy football.

Dat Justin Blackmon....a real zinger of a pick amirite?

I feel the same way about Hern?ndez, I mean he did some terrible shit but what good does putting him in prison do? who cares about the rule of law, about not letting the rich get away with murder, forgive and forget imho.
