Are you poor? I would guess a vast majority of child abuse cases for anyone middle class and above get pleaded down to misdemeanors, with no jail time served. I'd also guess that similar percentages of people are able to hide that from their employers completely.
I'll admit I'm saying that without any research done to back it up, but I really don't think this scenario is as black and white as you're presenting it.
I would definitely be fired, I work for an investment firm. I'm not a big shot by any means, but I would definitely be fired. They'd consider it like I was representing them negatively
