God I hate this board. I didn't say he would suck, I just said I wonder what would have happened. A couple things that make me think Belichick isn't an all time great coach without Brady.

- He has no coaching tree
- He has no "system" that he is credited with inventing
- He was a defensive coordinator yet the Pats defense quite regularly sucks
- He has also had the benefit of playing in a division that is total garbage for most of his career

There's a reason that Tom Brady gets included in the GOAT conversation and Belicheat doesn't. He can't even hold a candle to someone like Don Shula.

Thinking Belichick isn't a good coach is pretty laughable. There is a reason his teams have been in the playoffs since he benched Bledsoe, won 3 superbowls and made the TE position valuable.

Yeah we already discussed that, Tom Brady. That's why the hypothetical question was "What if he didn't have Tom Brady". Christ try and keep up.

Having Brady certainly propelled Belichick, but you can say that about most HOF head coaches (there's a few though that didnt have a hof QB though..Gibbs comes to mind). Belichick has a process, and he follows it (and it works). He surrounds himself and the front office with some very talented football people. When someone leaves, the next guy steps in and they don't seem to miss a beat. And be fair..he did get a pretty awful Browns team to 11-5 and a playoff win with a who's who of journeyman qbs.

Give War Room a read, it's a decent history of Belichick/Patriots and how he manages things..though they conveniently gloss over SpyGate.

Tom Brady, the #199 pick in the 2000 draft. What if he didn't have Tom Brady, seem to remember some Cassel guy when Tom went out.
