It's Martin rookie probowl guard. Beckham will win the award though.
Zach martin getting the award would be completely legit. He's good enough to deserve it, And I don't need to check the stats to be confident an offensive lineman hasn't ever won that shit. I've said for a long time that I think murray is really at best an average RB, and it's just this line really makes him look good. I can't even begin to imagine what it'd be like if we got someone legitimately good to run for us. The cowboys line is so damn good, and the scary thing is how young they are. They'll only get better... a lot better. At least we got a few more years of this before they all get bought out by other teams.

Yeah, if there was any justice for the men in the trenches, Martin should win OROY. It's clear he's had a bigger impact on his team and the game than any other rookie, including Beckham. If Beckham had done what he did all year long it would be a different story, but he didn't. Martin was there day 1 making above average running backs look great. I know it wasn't only martin blocking, but the difference in this line from last year to this year is insane.

No, an offensive lineman has never won Rookie of the Year. Not enough glory to be had in the trenches on that side of the ball.

Wait a minute, I just read that martin is the only offensive rookie to even be selected to the pro bowl. Is that right? No Odell Beckham, and he's probably going to win ROY?

Beckham missed too much of the season. He's also on a terrible team and OROY usually goes to a playoff team. Hill has done things in his rookie season that only Curtis Martin and Dickerson have done. He's had FOUR games with over 140 yards rushing. Multiple 50+ yard TD runs. The guy is a beast. He also started out as a five carry dude in the season. Then split carries until November.

Martin would be a great choice. Linemen get Dangerfielded all the time.

So Alex, you say ODB shouldn't win because he missed too much of the season then want to give it to Hill who missed a bunch of the season and split carries? Plus, there's been many seasons mediocre teams had a player who won the award.

ODB jr is the best player of the rookies. Not like the pro bowl isnt a popularity contest anyways. Shit, he has 11 tds in the games he has played...insane for a rookie....and more than Hill who plays a position that gets more touchdowns. Martin is the only other consideration really.

I'm not keeping up well enough. Who does hill play for?

Also, what does 5 carry dude mean? He got 5 carries a game?

Finally, I know the fans get a vote in the pro-bowl now, but isn't it still primarily decided by other players and coaches? That's why it used to be such an honor, because it was other players recognizing you.

If it matters to anyone, Odell, Brandon Oliver, and Chris Borland got rookie of the week 2 times each. Sammy Watkins got it 3 times.

Neither Martin nor Hill got it even once. Not that its surprising for a lineman.

Borland could've probably taken DROY had he not been injured. Dude had 84 tackles, 2 INTs, 1 sack, and 1 FR in 8 games as a starter. And in the 8th game, he got injured just before halftime.

In case anyone else was like me and unsure how they picked the pro bowl these days.

"Currently, players are voted into the Pro Bowl by the coaches, the players themselves, and the fans. Each group's ballots count for one third of the votes. "

Got one of the Pats sideline beanies for Xmas! They're sold out and basically only available on ebay etc, but my wife's parents got it months ago I guess:

Problem for Evans is he played more games than Beckham and is still behind him in stats. It's not a totally fair comparison, ignores variables with each guy's situation etc, but when it's 2 guys playing the same role in the same position one is going to overshadow the other. When I say it's going to be Beckham to win I'm not saying he's clearly the best choice, he's just clearly the one who is going to get picked. We all recognize no Lineman is going to get it, even with Murray's gaudy numbers as a sort of surrogate set of stats in his favor.

Hill has been great, but he's only really been a #1 guy for half a season and he hasn't put up the gaudy numbers of Beckham either. Plus he's a bit fumbly.

Looking at a midseason prediction thing on NFL.com 3 experts picked Martin, 1 Benjamin, and 5 picked Watkins.

How crazy is this rookie WR class BTW? We're not even talking about Kelvin Benjamin or Jarvis Landry, and only one mention of Sammy Watkins. Of course their stats are wildly inflated by the current state of the league, but still they're all really impressive. And that's not even mentioning guys like Brandin Cooks, Jordan Mathews, Allen Hurns, John Brown, or Martavis Bryant. All of whom have made some kind of real impact.

edit: That's a pretty sharp hat except for the logo being Pats.
