bullshit. if you're convicted of domestic violence you should be banned for life and have to pay your current team for their mistake in drafting/trading/signing for you.
Try to keep up. You don't have to be convicted, or even fucking charged.

no kidding, can you read?

If youre CONVICTED - then the result should be lifetime ban.

There shouldn't even be a penalty unless there's a conviction.

Why exactly isn't Rice in jail anyways?

Also, once again here's a major organization/corporation/brand making a knee-jerk wrong decision.

So basically, with the new rule as stated...

I can drag my wife onto the 50 yard line and sodomize her and beat the shit of her and I'm guaranteed a 6 game suspension because it's my first offense.

Right, there shouldn't be any room for subjectivity.

Why do we rage about players hitting women? Who gives a fuck? Get out there and make football plays.

Right because it's totally uncommon for a private organization to impose their own Code of Conduct.

Honestly... are you for real right now?

How many companies suspend their employees for not being charged with a crime?

It is all PR bullshit and incredibly fake.

Citation needed?

There's an Ed Jones office in Denver CO. It's legal to smoke weed there. So what you're saying is there would be no precedent for a termination if a picture ended up on facebook of an employee smoking a blunt?

Crime committed? None
Action taken? Immediate termination with no severance. GUARANTEED

All for making the punishment steeper, but year, this sounds ridiculous with a lifetime ban for what the league considers a second offense. Starting to get tired of the NFL trying to function as a second pseudo legal system. Potentially banning a player for life for a crime that they're not convicted of is horse shit.
Welcome to every company ever. The NFL has a big public image. I work for a major international company and there is stuff in the contract about public image.

The problem with needing a conviction is that the women will most likely not testify because of fear or being payed off. For most things I think the NFL should need a conviction and not start suspending before it hits the courts. For this I can understand.
