If anything, I'd throw more to Sherman, just because he's handsy as fuck, and you know the refs are looking to tag him on it.

That was fucking retarded. I think I could have done that experiment in a library and the helmet headset would have sounded just as shitty.
Al Michaels also used that opportunity to shit on grunge music. Fuck that guy.

I thought neutralizing him with a 3rd WR was pretty smart.
Except it took away half the field from the Packers, and didn't even come close to working. They didn't neutralize him, they handicapped themselves by only being able to play on one side of the field.

That was kind of my point. Revis and Asomugha put up good numbers at first too. Then people stopped throwing in their directions and they became legendary status. It didn't take long after that though (mostly because they went to different teams) before it looked like that hype was pretty overblown.

I remember Sherman quite a bit from the 2012 season and he was considered a good corner, but nothing like now where people seem scared of him.
It's a recent fad in the NFL, the "shut down" corner position. You look at all CBs in the Hall of Fame and none of them ever qualified for that status. Deion Sanders would be the closest and even his "shut down" play isn't what got him into the HoF.

I can throw a football a quarter mile, it's just being a retard that's kept me back. personally
Give a new meaning to tard strength.

I'd have to google, but I dont think Ty Law is in the HoF yet. I'd consider him a shut down corner though.

CB's in the past didn't have to be "shutdown corners" because the passing game wasn't nearly as used or complex. As offenses have used the passing more and more, CB's have become more and more important. If we went by past HoF stats, Jay Cutler would be in. And that's just fucking laughable.

Passing wasn't nearly as used or complex? The late 80s and 90s consisted of the best passing offenses to ever play the game, that's why the majority of places in the record books are still held by people like Favre, Marino, Elway, Moon, etc. I'm not talking about 50s and 60s CBs here, I mean the most recent inductees that have played during this era of football.

Moon? 1 record... number of times sacked. Couldn't find Elway anywhere on the list, but might have missed him. Saw a ton of Farve, Manning, Brees, Brady... you know, guys who played when the rules on defending the pass were changed to make passing easier. And if Manning plays another 2 or 3 years, those Farve records will be his also.

congratulations Jets on not even making it on to the map in even 1 county, anywhere. lol

And what is that dark blue in southern Virginia? Is that Colts fans left over from the Baltimore Colts days? I'm suprised there's still any big number of colts fans there, with the Redskins being nearby all along, its not like the 'skins are a recent expansion team or something.

17 of the top 20 passing yard seasons happened since 2000, and 14 of the top 20 passing TD's in a season. Clearly the 80's and 90's were the golden age of passing.
The point never was that the 80s and 90s were BETTER than what's currently happening. It's just that they most certainly weren't the stone age of passing. Also don't you think it would be more intelligent to look at say the top 5 of those record categories and see the players, rather than the single TOP player?

Definitely makes sense to compare careers of people who are retired and those still playing. Yup...

Everything is more complex now than it was 10, 20, 30 years ago. Teams take what worked then and innovate on both sides of the ball. Arguing that the passing game isn't used more now is a pretty ridiculous statement.
