Bills want to be Clemson North. You know, because Clemson has won so many championships...or something

Sources are denying that is a real report. Turns out BroBible and Deadspin aren't credible what is this world coming to.

I don't really care about their opinions, I was more interested in if the missed workouts is true. Either way, go ahead and run around in the AFC North JFF.

Bills trying to win worst run franchise award? What the fuck are they thinking? That's two absolutely terrible trades in a row.
They just picked up Mike Williams, with the draft picks and last years draft, they don't need an overpaid underperforming guy like Stevie. Sad to see him go because he was one of the 5 people in the city that actually liked Buffalo, but still. He was medicore.

Damn that Stevie Johnson trade is amazing. How they pulled that off is beyond me. Maybe Buffalo's just that stupid.

How it was pulled off:

Bills said they want to trade Johnson
Various teams offered worse trade deals than 49ers
49ers got Johnson

He's due 5.5 and 5.8 M the next two years. He's somewhat cheap this year at 3.8M according to rotoworld. He's good but I'm always nervous of when a team is so willing to offload one of their stars. They'd know better than anyone what he's worth.

Meh, pretty much anyone is going to underperform with a rookie QB who only threw 12 tds last season. And he still had the best stats of all receivers on the Bills last year.

It's more of a thing about having Sammy Watkins now I would guess, but now almost every WR on the Bills is a rookie or 2nd year guy.

Stevie hasn't really been that good so a 4th for him isn't bad at all.

Edit: And before anyone calls me crazy, I have the benefit of access to the Buffalo sports market. Stevie gets crucified after every single game. By fans and analysts alike.

Overall it's a minimal investment for a potentially great return. 49ers are stacked with draft picks this year, and they just filled their 2 biggest needs; WR and CB. They pick 5 more times today, so they'll probably end up trading back to the 2015 draft a couple times and basically recouping the pick just by trading for 2015 picks.

Wtf are you smoking.

With a QB who can throw the ball he had 3 back to back to back 1000 yard seasons and last year with a rookie QB he isnt that good?

Steve Johnson, WR for the Buffalo Bills at NFL.com
ok.

And the bills got Mike Williams who had TWO 1k yard seasons with a 800 yard one in-between for a 6th round. OMG WHAT A STEAL!

You seem to know the definition but not the application.

Mediocre in the NFL isn't being in the top 20 of receiving stats like he was before EJ got there. It just doesn't make sense to give a proven commodity for a 4th.

It makes sense in this situation, it's not as dumb trade as everyone's making it out to be. He's not that good for a receiver, and if he's not clicking with your rookie QB that you want to carry your franchise for the next 10-15 years then that's bad in itself. They picked up two receivers last year in the draft, Mike Williams for a 6th rounder (who is arguably the same exact player as Stevie but cheaper), and Stevie away to someone they'll never play against for a pick they can use to fill another spot.

It's not like they're getting rid of CJ Spiller or any other key part of their offense.

I think Buffalo going through so many different QBs last year because of injuries kind of exposed Stevie a bit. In those situations the receiver should really be elevating the play of the QB, of being that go-to guy you can rely on. Calvin Johnson he is not though and with a shiny new toy in Marone's offense who just might be a Calvin Johnson type player, there was no need to keep Stevie.

I wonder how he'll do in SF.

I guess, I'm just a believer that for the money and a proven performer, the more weapons you have (especially for a young QB) the better off you are. Watkins, Williams (who is a good player), Woods and Johnson would have been great for depth and given him a lot of weapons. I think that puts the Bills in the position that Watkins and Woods have to both blow up for it to be a good trade for them.

Either way, SF is getting a good receiver on the cheap.

Yeah, I like the trade a lot. We had 11 picks to play with and have to trim our roster by 11 anyhow, so I'm sure we'll get the pick back.

The only issue is that he's probably just a rental. With both Crabtree and Kaepernick due contracts next year, I don't see how we pay all 3.
