1) Virtually everyone thinks Ballmer ridiculously overpaid, and the Jaguars sale is a much closer comparison for the Bills.

2) Looking into coverage of it, many people think it was essentially a speculative purchase - that new TV deals, another possible crushing of the players' union, and expansion into China and India will all lead to much higher growth for the NBA in the next 5-10 years. Aside from new TV deals in a couple years, none of that really applies to the NFL.

Sports franchises are becoming the new toy and status symbol for bored billionaires. I think the price tag the Bills fetch will be just as shocking as the Clippers deal (relatively speaking for the media market, so like $59.95 and a years worth of poutine).

Kaep signs 6 year $126 mil extension. Including this year comes out to about 7/$127, or about $18/yr, and contract is probably loaded with incentives and de-escalators. $61mil guaranteed.
