Better according to who? Obviously the organization and a lot of their fans think that keeping the name is "better".
Better according to the team no longer having a racist name. Who gives a shit how prevalent it is? An outdated slur is still a slur. You don't see teams out there called the Faulty Armors or Bagel Eaters.

It's such a stupid thing to take a stand on.

What is it with the adults on this board that really get up in arms if they can't use racial slurs? You motherfuckers will write an entire essay about this shit. Is it that important to you? And italwaysgoes down the retarded slippery slope(The Niners should be the San Francisco Slopes!) argument.
Because it's a superficial change. What positive effect will changing the team have on Native Americans? There's nothing happening in the NFL right now other than TMZ Johnny Manziel gossip and a new cornerback every day claiming he's the best in the game going on right now. I think if there was actual football going on right now most people wouldn't give a shit.

I think for it to be a slur it has to be used as one. I just don't see any evidence of anyone using it as a slur. Certainly the team isn't. I would say that it's equally stupid to carry a flag for a cause where the bad guys aren't trying to be bad and the victims don't give a damn.

I think some people are just frustrated with the American PC movement. Sure, it could be the wrong issue to be taking a stance on, but the NFL is really popular and it's a very visible issue.

I know American PC shit pisses me the fuck off. It's a lot of white dudes telling everyone else what they should and shouldn't be offended by. With almost everything possibly carrying an offensive undertone. I consider myself a pretty liberal person, but the amount of liberal asshattery I'm surrounded by here in the Bay Area baffles me. I have a friend who thinks buying a Los Rojos jersey would be offensive because he's not Hispanic. It's pussy shit. And I have a friend who thinks saying "pussy" is extremely offensive no matter what context. It's silly and immature.

So because you don't think they should be offended by it, you deem that it shouldn't be changed.

I don't know what's worse, random white dudes telling people what they should be offended by or random white dudes telling people what they shouldn't be offended by.

I'm not telling them that they should or shouldn't be offended. I just haven't seen any evidence that they are. If somebody did a decent poll and found out that a large percentage of Native Americans felt that the name was insulting to them then I would support changing it. As it stands though, the only poll was decades ago and about 90% of them didn't have a problem with it or even liked it. I don't know why they don't do another poll, but as of now if you were to find the root cause of the movement to change the name, I think you would have to conclude that it's getting changed because it makes uptight white people uncomfortable and gives certain liberal blowhards a chance to tell people what to do.

So if only 10% of the black people in the country were offended by you calling them American Inventors, you'd think it would be ok for you to name a professional franchise viewed by hundreds of millions of people, The American Inventors?

People would treat the word "American Inventor" very differently in America if only 10% of black people gave a shit. That's a terrible point, Sutekh. You're better than that.

I'm offended by your board name. My grandmother was a Cherokee Indian named Sutekh and I think you are mocking her. Change it please.

Its so bad that Dallas traded for a retired ILB who didn't see the field last year. Thanks for the sixth rounder though Jerry.

Sucks for the Bills. He was a beast last year.

It's a low risk move for Dallas. They've been pretty smart with a lot of their decisions of late and it's not like they're bursting at the seams with LB talent so while it may be surprising, there's not much to lose here.

Wasn't last year a season record in ACL tears? And this season in MLB has been a season record in Tommy John surgeries? WTF.
