Uhhh, they moved kickoffs up for the very reason that they wanted to reduce the amount of returns.I'd love to see a penalty for kicking the ball out of the back of the endzone on kickoffs. Like spot it on the 30 or 40 instead of the 20 if it goes out of the back. It never used to be a problem, but now it seems like 80% of kicks go out the back of the endzone, which is boring as fuck.
I really only watch football during the playoffs, so I had no idea they did this. What was the reasoning behind wanting fewer returns? Were special teams running wild all over the league for a couple years or something?Uhhh, they moved kickoffs up for the very reason that they wanted to reduce the amount of returns.

Dude you guys have a great running back. He lines up at QB sometimes and tries to throw the ball.Unfortunately for Alex Smith and the Reids, there is still a second half in football.
I really hope the 49ers start splitting time with their backs next season. We have to figure out if it's going to be Hunter or Lattimore that replaces Gore.
I know. He reminds me of Wilson. He's a lot faster, however.Dude you guys have a great running back. He lines up at QB sometimes and tries to throw the ball.
Even though it would be weird at first, I don't really care about the extra point. Getting rid of kickoffs would be really stupid to me. Just start at your 20 every time? It takes an entire element out of play. Yeah it feels like that sometimes already but people still make returns at times.Within 5 years I don't think we have kickoffs or extra points anymore. Good riddance to both...they're usually no more than 15 seconds of play that the networks put 3 minutes of commercials before and after. Extra points are especially too automatic to justify seeing the discount double check commercial for the 8th time of the day.
Theoretically you could remove "Special Teams" altogether in exchange for better depth elsewhere, which could be good?Even though it would be weird at first, I don't really care about the extra point. Except Wilson can make more than 1 throw.I know. He reminds me of Wilson. He's a lot faster, however.
Well ST is already a proving ground for young players who aren't ready for prime time, and a dumping ground for depth players who are insurance policies for the starters, so unless you change the roster size I don't think it would matter.Theoretically you could remove "Special Teams" altogether in exchange for better depth elsewhere, which could be good?
I agree. I always fast forward through kickoffs since they are in the middle of 2 commercial blocks and it's very rare that something interesting happens during one.Within 5 years I don't think we have kickoffs or extra points anymore. "better depth elsewhere" aka a good excuse to add more regular season games.Theoretically you could remove "Special Teams" altogether in exchange for better depth elsewhere, which could be good?
Saints fans will always remember John Carney.Even though it would be weird at first, I don't really care about the extra point.
And will have less rings.I know. He reminds me of Wilson. He's a lot faster, however.
