If this is true it's probably about Harbaugh wanting to be the GM as well as coach. I hope they don't go that way, Baalke has done a great job with the last few drafts. If it's about money then the 49ers need to just STFU and pay him because if they don't there are plenty of other teams that will.
Harbaugh stuff is concerning. Guy has never really had a long tenure anywhere to begin with and most of the time when a coach is given GM powers it doesn't turn out well. Hopefully this is all just a money play because he wants the $10mil a year Texas was reportedly ready to pay him to return to the college ranks.

He'd probably drop 0.1 seconds off if he cut that hair. Kids these days.

All of the various Twitter gossip reporters are saying he wants to be the highest paid coach in the NFL. The 49ers predictably informed him that he has not won the Super Bowl and is therefore not getting more money than Bill Belichick. I'm sure he's in line for a nice raise but these reports make the guy sound like he's crazy. I mean more crazy than he looks on the sidelines.

Also, fuck the annual combine hype. When football players start lining up in tennis shoes and basketball uniforms I'll start caring more.

It really sounds like it isn't just about money, otherwise I just don't think it would be that big of a deal.
I think it's about money and arrogance. Harbaugh feels that he deserves to be the highest paid coach in the NFL, the 49ers believe that he shouldn't be, until he wins a Super Bowl. Honestly, I just want to keep Vic Fangio and Jim Leavitt, after this mess(I'm still hesitant to believe that a some of the reports isn't just the media sensationalizing it) blows over.

Well you would have thought the dude was a first overall QB for as much hype and coverage as he got when he was coming to the NFL from college.

The bigger question is why haven't the 9ers done an extension? Do they feel he's not worth more than 5M a year and another coach can get the same results?

I think where there's smoke, there's fire. I'm curious if it were a team other than the Browns if Harbaugh might have been more interested.

The report was that the Browns front office threw out a trade idea to the Niners FO and were basically laughed at. The story is blown all out of proportion like Harbaugh and the Browns were minutes away from a secret deal and OMG Harbs must be super salty at SF guys! Its a fucking Florio hack job of a story. Now, I can see maybe SF and Harbaugh both biding their time at this point to use next season as leverage in negotiations. But this non-story is really indicative of little or nothing.

Well, he feels that he deserves to be the highest paid coach in the NFL, especially after Texas reportedly offered him 10m/year. The 49ers obviously feel that he isn't entitled to a salary that large, until he wins a Super Bowl. If he ends up winning one, I fully expect him to get the deal that he wants. If he doesn't, the 49ers have a lot more bargaining room. They'll likely take the same approach with Kaepernick. When you think about it, it's win/win for the front office. If we don't win, they won't have to pay as much. If we do win, who cares? They'll throw the kitchen sick at them.

I think Harbaugh is a good coach who I like a lot(mostly because he rustles the jimmies of the NFC West faggots so much). However, until he wins something, I totally understand where the 49ers front office is coming from. Like I said earlier, the guys whose departure I would be really upset over, are Vic Fangio and Jim Leavitt.

I think the whole trade thing was bullshit, but Cleveland does have 2 first round picks this year. I bet with a team as stacked as the 49ers and 3 first round draft picks you could probably attract a lot of coaches.

Texas didn't offer him $10 million. Maybe some booster did but the school definitely didn't.

No Texas didn't formerly offer him anything, but a 10year/$100mil rumor with him as a candidate was running around for about a week or so after Mack Brown retired before Harbaugh stepped in and basically said "not interested."

There is no way in hell Texas would pay 10 yr/$100 million. It was just a rumor created by his agent. There were rumors about coaches that Texas didn't even talk to. Nobody had a clue what was going on except Vegas.

Trying to brush aside the Ray Rice story I see.
That was like, last week or something. Try to keep up. We've had a different player arrested for drugs already since then, and of course the underwear olympics to talk about.

Seriously though, just over a week until free agency starts!
