No, a couple of years ago (after the new CBA) people were saying the cap was going to stagnate for a while then explode, as it appears to be doing. I think it is most relevant to those teams that just recently resigned their "franchise" QB's. As a percentage of the cap those contracts aren't going to look nearly as inflated. Question is are those contracts going to set the market for the upcoming ones (Kaep, Wilson, Newton, Luck, etc.) or are QB salaries going to further inflate with the cap?

If the QB salaries inflate with the cap then guys like Rodgers will be playing at bargain prices and GB will benefit greatly from the timing of that extension.

Rich Eisen broke 6 seconds this year.

I'm pretty sure the Dolphins are in the process of trading up to get him.
Speaking of the fins...

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Dolphins are "gauging trade value" for 2013 No. 3 overall draft pick Dion Jordan.

So they trade last years 12th and 42nd for this kid....and looking to bail on him already maybe?

Someone really needs to make a timeline of the epic Dolphin fuckups of the last few years.

I really hope they don't pay him that much. They may as well take the risk and let him play out his rookie contract. The 49ers are still a stacked team and could possibly make it back to the Super Bowl this year, but it is going to be extremely tough, especially with all this Harbaugh drama going on. If they don't win the Super Bowl next year, and he doesn't have a statistically fantastic year, there is no way he will get that much.

Could it be that Kaepernick looked at the projected cap numbers and is going to try to leverage that into a big contract, under the auspices that it'll actually be cheap compared to future contracts? If so, he's a genius. The Niners would be absolutely retarded to give him that much, unless he develops into a better player this year, however.

I never have football dreams in the offseason, but last night I had one that the Redskins were in the Super Bowl. And lost. What the fuck? My subconscious isn't even foolish enough to think the Redskins could win a championship (although it's apparently dumb enough to think they could even get there).

This is the big "gamble" with Kaepernick that I was talking about. I really think we need to just sign him now, rather than take the gamble of another Super Bowl, or deep playoff run. Certainly not for 18m/year, butI think we could probably negotiate down to something similar to Brady's deal.

Yeah, I can see it both ways. The fact of the matter is that it's hard to get a proven QB and SF has to either pay him or someone else will. If he regresses next year it might lead to a better deal, but if he goes deep in the playoffs again then some team is going to give him big time quarterback money and unless you really think you have something better waiting in the wings it probably makes sense to give him 10+ million and lock him down for a few years, particularly if the salary cap is going to go up.

The Buccaneers may have bailed the Jaguars out of the "worst uniform in the NFL" trophy.

That orange accent is awful and seems like a tacked on afterthought.

Interesting choice making the numbers look like a 7-segment display.
