That's nonsense. The NFL will never reach the level of blah that basketball and baseball do because they don't play 500 fucking games a week. I can't see how anyone could be remotely interested in either sport until the playoffs because the games just don't matter. I can't imagine that the players can even be bothered to show up for preseason baseball, let alone any fans.
We are a single death on the field away from the game fundamentally changing. If they continue to push the health of the players with games every day, more games, and international games it is a matter of when, not if.

Perhaps in 20 years or so, we'll be able to anonymously pick who gets to die. If it's online voting, Tyen and his bots while rule the NFL with an iron hand, and Seven Feet Under will be the Superbowl Champs.

Now comes the shit storm in Buffalo. With Kelly having serious complications with cancer, there's two predominate figures that were keeping the franchise in Buffalo out of the picture.

I really hope they don't move.

They'll stick around for a few more years. The state just sunk a few hundred million into the stadium (iirc) and I'm fairly certain the inner workings of that deal had the thought of Wilson's passing in the forefront of its creation.

The only angle from which Cuban might be considered to have a point is that the NFL has less room to expand the playoffs and regular season before the product starts to seem noticeably diluted than is the case with either the NBA or MLB. Four additional regular season games in the NBA would barely register on the radar while it would be a huge addition for the NFL.

That said, Cuban would probably welcome an NFL implosion, however it manifested itself. He certainly doesn't want to see the regular season and post season lengthened so that football spends even more weeks out of the year sucking all of the oxygen out of the room for sports at large.

I guess the one area I didn't think about where the NFL is ruining itself via overexposure (not sure that's what I'd call it, though) is the London games. I've been hearing about 4 or 5 games possibly in 2015. What in the hell is this fascination with London by Goodell?

Europe doesn't have football in a youth, adolescent, or college capacity. They're not going to suddenly start enjoying the NFL until that happens. As it is, you're just pissing off US fans. The vast, vast majority of Europeans see the NFL as a joke (not as athletic as soccer/rugby, too slow, etc).

They should just absorb the CFL and add teams until 16 (LA, Vegas, Mexico City, San Antonio, maybe New Mexico somewhere) to create a third conference!

England isn't going to start getting youth and college leagues until there's enough interest in the sport, which seems like is the point with bringing more games over there. They need some interesting and competitive games though, and that's definitely not going to happen by sending the Jags over every year.

The league is smart enough to realize they're close to reaching the saturation point here in the US and in having done so, has the hubris to believe they can and should do the same across the pond. They don't worry about pissing off fans to the point of hurting interest here at home because, let's face it, it's not going to. It just gives the sports talking heads something football related to talk about Tuesday thru Thursday.

Growing interest in sports from the top down is the hardest way to go about it. Some sports have grown that way out of sheer necessity (NASCAR) but typically it's from the bottom up. Kids playing a sport in their backyards and neighborhoods does more to grow a sport long term than anything else.

Don't they sell out? Seems reason enough for me. Better then the empty seats they see in a lot of venues.

Yeah, from what I've heard the NFL games in London have been very popular. It just sucks for the team that has to give up a home game for a super duper away game.

I hope Buffalo can keep their team. One of the last small market teams left...second to only Green Bay I'd imagine. Great football town, great fans, etc. Just not sure why the NFL seems to be locked in on the idea that LA will support an NFL franchise this time around. Like let's just ignore history and smile and nod when Goodell talks about the inevitability of another team there.

And what a sad day for the sport if London has a team and Buffalo does not.

Sounded more like the Bills were in danger of getting moved to Toronto if anything. There's a company there that's been rumored to be the front runner for ownership after Wilson was gone.
