Being a 49ers fan I'm probably biased, but some of it just sounds like a response to Sherman verbally trashing Crabtree and saying if its on anyone its on him (Kaepernick) and he plans to step it up next year. Its Crabtree that Sherman was putting down, but he was open and a better pass is a game winning touchdown. What ifs might not be reality, but that statement is a fact.

The rest of it does sound like still rustled jimmies, but mine are too anytime I have to see a replay or hear about it so I don't blame him.

But who really knows when all of the quotes are just segments and almost completely without context.

I agree with everything but that. WTF play were you watching? Blame the play call maybe because it had to be a timing route which Sherman said he was expecting the entire time, but open he was not.

Well, are receivers ever open on that route? The point of that play is to throw it up to the corner where only the receiver can catch it, or it goes out of bounds and is incomplete. The only way you could say the receiver is not open is if the DB is behind him and near the corner, which wasn't the case here. Had Kaepernick thrown it up to the corner, it ispossiblethat Crabtree comes down with it.

Either way it's probably not a great decision to throw at Sherman for the first time in the game with the game on the line. You're not going to get Kaepernick to say that though because QBs never admit that they're afraid to throw at the badass corner, even though they are. Unless the receiver is way taller than the corner, he still needs a little separation for that throw to be a good idea, especially when you have 30 seconds on the clock, a couple of timeouts, and at least 2 more tries at the end zone.

Pass could have been better, but the fact Sherman batted it forward means he would have batted it away if it was perfect.

If he was throwing it to Megatron then it would have been a great play. Unfortunately, he was throwing it to a 6'1 Crabtree being guarded by a 6'3 corner who's the best in the NFL. I don't think that window even exists where he can catch the ball for a touchdown but Sherman can't get a hand on it

On the bright side, this throw was pretty fucking crazy.

Nobody can throw a ball 30 yards on a rope while their feet are not on the ground, let alone set. Between his arm and his speed, the kid is a freak of nature. If he can master the mental part of the game where he stands in the pocket, reads coverages, goes through progressions and makes good decisions, he's going to be good in the NFL for a long time. He's got a ways to go for that, and it's hard to do when you always know that you can take off and be a hero carrying the ball, but the good news is that the things he's missing are things that can be learned. Peyton Manning has never had the ability to run around and improvise, so he had to be the smartest guy on the field from the beginning of his career. The young athletic guys playing QB now have to have discipline because they can make things happen without doing that work but they will never be a complete NFL quarterback without mastering the mental part of the position.

Aside from the usual shitting on him because it's funny, guy is a physical freak. There will always be big hit concerns about him running, but he doesn't tend to take a lot of big hits as far as I've seen. He's generally smart aboutwhenhe runs.

I'd really be pulling for him if he was on any non Niners/Cowboys/Pats/Ravens team.

With enough poise and grace, Kaeperbro might one day live up to the lofty bar set by Alex "One Good Season Makes Me Seem Decent To Fans Who Started Watching Football in 2011" Smith. It's basically Montana to Young part deux.
