Checking in with the Redskins as the #1 defense in the NFL and the #1 rushing offense in the NFL.

Had to, since this will likely change drastically over the course of the season.
#1 defense and they haven't even played the Eagles yet. The stats will only get better once they do...

If it's a ref to last year I get it completely, just didn't know why anyone would expect it not to take a game or two for him to get his game back. I'm assuming working him in slowly was the game plan all along, although maybe they should have used him more against San Fran given how putrid they looked in that game.
It was play calling more than anything. Norv entered this year really wanting to switch things up and we saw a lot of that in the San Fran game, especially with AP. Lots of "get him the ball in space" type of plays and he struggled early and just didn't have the momentum for a heavy workload later in the game when the team was down.

Week 2 they ran him up the gut with Teddy under center almost every time he touched the ball. Results.

Lets be honest though, would it shock anyone if we somehow manage to beat the Giants Thursday night, and we spend another week making fun of Murray/Bradford/Chip Kelly against that Jets D only to watch the 0-3 in free fall Eagles run up 500 yards and 40 points against the 2-1 Skins in Week 4?

Maybe it's just the last 22 years talking.

Not that getting him the ball in space is a bad idea, dude has 79 yards on 5 catches this year.

Agreed. And that's a good thing about having Norv running the offense. I have no issues with AP getting thrown the ball. It was the sweeps out of the shotgun that he's obviously not comfortable with. I think we went into the season wanting to be out of the gun a lot, but they changed that after one week. So props to Zimm and Norv for making big changes quickly. They obviously did some good.

Im not sure if the 49ers were that good or if the Vikings are that bad. But after watching how Minnesota played week 2 Im thinking maybe the Steelers were in rare form on 10 days rest at home with a point to prove. They also have God on their team, aka Antonio Brown.

Ben had the most throwing yards in the league last year. Bell had the second most rushing yards.

Steelers had more yards in week 1 against the Patriots then they did against the Niners.

They weren't in rare form, the offense is that good. The defense blows monkey nuts. Who knows, maybe Shazier is actually here to play now.

Witten getting treatment for 2 sprained ankles and a sprained knee, status uncertain for Falcons this week. The fuck Dallas?

Even the shittiness of the Steelers defense is a little bit overblown. They're getting the hang of a mostly new system with a lot of young and new personnel. They gave up 28 to the Pats, with most of that coming on clearly blown play calls. The same Pats that dropped a 40burger on the vaunted Bills defense the next week.

My inner homer wants to say they'll gel by week 5 or so and be an actual semi-reliable defense that's not a liability.

Being realistic though I'm thinking they'll be firmly middle of the pack by midseason, with some lapses like the Gronk "coverage" still costing them games.

Love how you said "throwing yards" and not passing because thats exactly what Ben does. He throws the fucking ball.

Not taking away anything from him as a pure QB, he just improvises so much and gets so much air under the ball on any deep throw nevermind a broken desperation play.

Well see though. We are 2 weeks into the season. The Steelers could go 13 - 3 or end up like last year, you just never know this early on.

I don't think it's overblown. They have some really good players but we lost our two best cover guys, our play caller and swing backer in the middle, and the big body who sucked up blocks. That's a lot of veteran talent in key positions. Guys can't just jump in and take over that kind of leadership. You can't expect that of them.

I think the D will limp along good enough because of the high powered offense. I expect the D to come in to its own by week 10. Perhaps after the bye week where they get a ton of time to just analyze instead of prepping for something specific.

Edit: he certainly chucks the ball up some times. Last year and this year though there have been a lot of really good pocket passes. His best pass of the year was the blown TD where DHB stepped out of bounds. That was perfectly thrown in to double coverage.

Interesting thing I heard about Demarco Murray: Last year, his average first contact was 2.8 yards past the of scrimmage. This year, it's behind the line of scrimmage. It's fun to mock his terrible numbers but I think that's a pretty good indicator that the line is a much bigger issue than Murray right now.
Yeah, but let's not attribute his numbers last year to Dallas' line. Wouldn't want to do that...

Yeah, he just chucks it out there.

5-5 on passes over 35 yards this week. Brady and Bradford are 1 and 3 on pass attempts and have zeroattemptsthat long this season. Ben's perfect on them. Because, obviously, he just "throws" it up in the air blindly.

Also 5-5 for 112 and 5 first downs up the middle.

I was thinking about making a post on this subject myself, then I walked the dogs. We're all talking like we know something and we don't know fuckall about any teams right now really. We know the Pats are still pretty good. Wethinkthe Bengals are pretty good(at least until prime time). And that's about fucking it.

Those stats are sick. I will give Brady a nod with him being on pace for 6,000 yards and 56 TD's with 0 picks.

Agreed on knowing fuckall right now too. A few things I think we can accurately guess at, but many others will change 2 or 3 more times before it's all settled.

Most of us have trouble after 15 because we run out of fingers and toes.

I thought it was because 16 is the age of consent there.
