I agree for the Pats but not so much for the Steelers and definitely not the Ravens. The Pats do have a system with 3-4 key cogs and lots of replaceable parts. But that doesn't mean they won't add elite parts like Talib, Revis, Moss, etc. Belichick changes schemes to fit what he has but elite is elite. Talib is still good as is Revis. Elite doesn't change.

Ravens had a really, really good group of players get a SB but then they fell apart. They haven't been nearly as good and that's because of lost talent. It's not plug and play. Elite was elite there as well. Boldin didn't suddenly lost his talent outside of Baltimore. Smith went to the '9ers so that doesn't count yet. Reed was old as hell and Lewis would have been a stud anywhere. Elite is elite.

Steelers have changed their offensive system and their defense is shit right now. So, how could it be system? Could it possibly be that Big Rapist is an elite, hard to bring down player who helps his WRs get open? Also, Wallace had solid years at Miami even though he is a one trick pony.I think any system can work with a core of elite players and the right coaches to bring out the best in them. And that means even if you change systems like Pittsburgh.

Rodgers didn't suddenly forget how to play football or their system broke down. He lost some elite tools to get the job done.
Some of the guys you're mentioning weren't drafted by those teams, so they aren't really who Grimm was talking about.

True, but it's still a fable. There is no mystical club of super drafters who are on top every year because of their 'system'. Who can mold complete average into the perfect weapon for their unstoppable machines of conquest. They all fuck up, they all lose players, and players go on to fail at different places for every team.

Nobody even ever said this. The entire idea is thatother teamsover pay for these dudes. The dudes in question are born of teams building in the draft. Believe me there's plenty of draft busts when you max out your comp picks every year, but the ones that get through end up with a big FA contract after their rookie contract expires. Its not that these teams are the only place it happens, but that some teams seem to have it happening every year. That's because those teams are hoarding draft picks, so the odds make it occur more frequently, or it appears that way.

Packers are far and away the best at draft and retention. There are numbers out there, but I'm lazy.

Wtf are you on about, look at the teams we are talking about and their records over the past 10-15 years and it proves it. Or go back even further and you will see how its institutional success which begins at the very top. Pittsburgh hasnt been a very good on average team for the past billion years out of luck. Same for GB, NE, etc.

Not to mention the drafting thing. Most good teams dont horribly fuck up 1st round picks, every now and then it happens to everybody...but doing that repeatedly fucks you. But then you have the teams like the Browns who get Gilbert and Manziel in the same draft with all the other great players that went after both of those.

More Giant dumpster fire news.

Ian Rappaport_sl said:
Damontre Moore was waived after he got into a fight with teammate Cullen Jenkins before practice, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the situation. According to Rapoport, Moore was upset about not getting free headphones like other players on the team.

I really couldn't believe this story. He could buy a pair of way better headphones and not blink. Self-entitlement, stupidity, or other shenanigans not mentioned?

Whichever, I doubt he'll be missed.
