It's going to be fantastic if we can rest our starters in Week 17 and let Dallas finish out their miraculous 7-9 season to knock themselves out of a top 10 draft pick

Yeah knowing the Jets have the Pats next week, Steelers and Chiefs have to be feeling pretty good.

I only watched the Jets twice against the Dolphins so I was thinking they were much better than this game has shown.

Typical announcer crap about how the kicker can redeem himself blah blah blah which sets up for a miss a.k.a. Gould this past weekend.

Conflicted. Wanted Dallas to get a win or two to make their draft position worse. Still always nice for them to lose a tight finish though.

Brandon Marshall killed it in the post game interview. Feel like Jets are going to be this year's 10 win team that doesn't get into the playoffs.

Apparently you could go 3-13 or worse and still make the playoffs. Although 6-10 seems the more realistic limit.

Whats the worst record an NFL team could have while still making the playoffs? | For The Win

Funny thing is those shit teams won their wildcard game when they made it.
Question is how "shit" were those teams really though? When you look at the schedules both the 2010 Seahawks and last year's Panthers played, the divisions in the opposing conference and the one in their conference (not their own) were both extremely tough.

2010 Seahawks had to play the AFC West and the NFC South. AFC West had 3 teams at .500 or better, and the NFC South had 3 teams with 10+ wins. Their other two conference opponents (3rd place finishers from 2009) were Chicago and the Giants. Both were also 10+ win teams. That means they played 6 teams with 10+ wins that year, who accounted for 5 losses.

2014 Panthers might have had an even tougher schedule. They played the AFC North and the NFC North. AFC North last year had 3 teams with 10+ wins (all 3 made the playoffs in the AFC as well). NFC North last year had 2 teams with 11+ wins (both made the playoffs). Their other two conference opponents were Seattle and Philly, both 10+ win teams. Panthers played 7 teams that had 10+ wins last year. They lost 5 of those games and tied another (Bengals).

TLDR: Their schedules were brutal.

I can maybe buy into the Panthers being the exception to the rule, but the 2010 Seattle Seahawks just weren't very good. Their losses were;

4-12 Denver Broncos (31-14)
7-9 St. Louis Rams
8-8 Oakland Raiders
10-6 Giants (41-7)
11-5 Saints (34-19)
10-6 Chiefs (42-24)
6-10 49ers
13-3 Falcons (34-18)
10-6 Tampa (38-15)

Seattle only beat 2 winning record teams a 11-5 Bears team who they later lost to in the playoffs, and a 9-7 Chargers team. All 9 of their losses were by 2 or more touchdowns and their total point differential for the year remains the lowest by a playoff team in NFL history at a whopping -97. The game that decided the division that year was a week 17 match up between a 6-9 team (Seattle) and the 7-8 rams team.

Heading to the Bills/Redskins game. Hoping for the best, but prepared for an emotional Redskin-esque let down.
