Yes, the other 6 people you can see come diving in to the gif in what appears to be the next 1.25 seconds actually took 12.5 seconds to get there which would have left him plenty of time to grab the ball. Shit, he probably could have dove on it, somersaulted and then run it to the endzone without actually getting touched by anybody due to how far away everyone else was.

It's not really fair to try to compare the Broncos D with the 85 Bears or even 00 Ravens stay wise.

They all played with different rules that favor the offense to different degrees.

I was 8 years old in '85 and all I remember about that superbowl was the superbowl shuffle but I have never seen a pass rush like this Denver team has.

I remember the game all too well. The Pats were destroyed. Made yesterdays Super Bowl look like a pre-season. Though that Denver pass rush. Best I can remember since the Reggie White Eagles or the Lawrence Taylor NYG.

Some of the same people on my FB feed that think there was a plot by the Gov't to murder the ranchers out west or that Obama has been implementing an Illuminati plot to spread Islam throughout the world were on FB posting about how this was clear evidence that Vegas controls the NFL, that the entire thing is corrupt and that the FBI needs to investigate.

85 bears dominated because noone had seen a defense like it before (the way they lined up etc.)

try to play that defense now and you'd get destroyed via the pass IF you have a solid offensive line that could give the QB ~3 seconds.

in the ERA though and ranking just from the ERAS of the time

85 bears imo #! (even if my pats got humiliated- of course they did that to ALL teams that year)

Denver's D this year isn't even "BEST EVER" in the past few years- i'd rank seattle's 3 years ago as slightly better.

for this playoff run, the Denver D was awesome - although the patriots were a missed extra point to potentially taking them to overtime(make that EP and then the pats (provided the game played out EXACTLY the same the rest of the game)are kicking the EP with time essentially expired to tie) (and took them to overtime in the regular season also) they earned their win the hard way.

Denver's D this year maybe not as dominant overall as other great D's like Seattle's a few years ago, Ravens in 2000, Bears in '85...but their pass rush in the playoffs (and especially against Pats/Panthers) was simply unmatched. They made those recent Giants SB teams with their vaunted pass rush seem like nobodies. It wasn't just the sack totals, the amount of pressures/hits/knockdowns that they were just consistently getting on most dropbacks was unreal.
