The Rams definitely need a QB, I'm just not convinced they agree with that this year. ATM they have 3 QB's on the roster. Keenum needs to be re-signed but they put a first-round tender on him and expect him to start. Foles is still under contract and they just drafted a QB in the 3rd round last year.

Are they going with 4 QB's, are they dropping their 3rd round draft pick so quickly? Trade?

I fully expect them to start the season with Keenum, Foles, and Mannion.
I've heard rumors that Foles could be floated as part of a trade to help move up if the team they are trading with needs a back up QB, especially those who think 15, 43 and 45 isn't a steep enough price to jump to from 15 to 4 for a franchise QB.

I'd be shocked if someone was willing to pay Foles $8,750,000 to be a backup. (if that # is correct) Foles is dogshit.

1M of it is prorated so that is signing bonus that has to be paid by LA regardless, not a team that trades for him and to fully flesh that thought out if you traded him you would be on the hook for 2M instantly because of the 1m prorated in 2017 and it would all hit the books once traded. So now it's 7.75M, nothing stops LA from eating 3-4M of that 6M roster bonus so that a team didn't have to pay Foles 7.75M. Hell I think LA has already paid him that 6M because its already past the 5th day of the league year, they might not have to pay him anything other than 1.75M.

Well makes sense. The article is a little confusing when it comes to cap space as it asserts that the Rams don't have the cap space to eat the 6 million yet if he has already been paid that how does it work? Does some of that 6 million hit in 2017? Meh, don't care enough to dig.

Foles isn't good enough to start for the Rams though, let that sink in.

I don't want Foles, but I also didn't think Johnny Manziel was a 1st round draft pick and I know of at least 2 owners that did and one of them would be involved for trading for Foles and has the balls to say Foles would be a quality back up in Dallas with a straight fucking face.

The 6M I'm probably wrong about being on them regardless, though I am certain the Rams can eat some of it to facilitate a trade. You see that going on with Kaepernick right now, Denver wants a pay cut, Kaepernick wants SF to eat the difference.

3rd edit... Also old article is old and doesn't reflect cap numbers today, was linked to show it was guaranteed after the 5th day of the league year, Rams have 12M in cap space atm. Still probably wrong about them already having had paid him though.

It's easier to get infatuated with a college star QB, shit happens all the time in the draft. Once teams have a few years of video at the NFL on a guy though...wait, nevermind, somehow Josh McCown keeps ending up starting for different teams.

Yeah, definitely looks like the Rams can eat at least some of that bonus if they haven't already. Just hard for me to imagine anyone considering Foles to be a trade asset.

Regarding that cap space link, does that include the fact they haven't paid Case yet? Does it include holds for the draft?

Probably because you don't have the time or inclination to be up on all teams needs, cap space, etc etc and follow your team. I had to use OTC to answer your questions because I don't keep up with the Rams other than to see if it conflicts to much with my conspiracy theory. That being said Dallas has Romo and Kellen Moore and PS Showers guy that isn't important enough to look up his first name to spell it correctly. Look what is out there, what is left, the only people left worth being a back up will make more than that 8M you claimed no one would pay and that is Fitzpatrick. One could claim Manziel is out there and then point to Jerry but something tells me that while he may end up in Dallas, it will be in an orange uniform not silver and blue. Foles at 3M to back up Romo starts to look better, especially when you consider even if you got to 4 and no QB has been taken, no matter who they take nothing changes the fact that the Cowboys are fucked if Romo gets hurt.

Hey Hoyer is probably attainable, rather have him over Foles! I mean, that's just it, Romo goes down you're fucked with Foles anyways imo. The Case Keenums of the world can be had for a 7th round draft pick!

One mans trash is another mans...trash.

I know, only 4 ints though, not quite good enough to be a Romo. (I'll ignore the 2 fumbles as neither was place holding right?)

As much as it's fun (and right) to troll Romo, the only reason "turnover" hasn't been renamed to "Hoyer" is because of what Carson Palmer did in the NFC Championship Game.

I feel like if they really felt like they needed to pay Kaeperbro because he played great, they'd find a way to clear cap space. Not like he'd be hurting even taking "only" 6 or 7 million this year. Long term he only makes more money if he can rebuild his career, I don't see that happening in San Fran.
Denver has been mortgaging the future with elderly veterans to squeeze out one more superbowl with the ghost of Peyton Manning. It's not like they're going to be a dynasty for the next 5 years. They will go downhill fast and Kaepernick won't change that. No way they're going to keep that defense together for long. I think if Kaepernick can beat out Gabbert for the starting spot in SF he only increases his value to some other team next year even if the team sucks since the expectations are so low there this year. Of course if he comes out throwing balls in the dirt like last year he's fucked but that is also true in Denver.

For the sake of the 49ers I would rather see him gone and get another pick but if I was him there's no way I would give up $6M just to get traded. If you look at NFL history he will probably never get another contract as good as the one he has now unless he really makes a big turnaround.

Straight up, Kaepernick is better than Peyton's corpse that played most of last year. If he can find his game again, everyone knows his ceiling could still be pretty high. They wouldn't need an all world D if their offense did more. I'm not expecting them to contend for another 5 years, unless Elway manages to really hit in the draft and rejuvenate the team. Every SB winner loses some key free agents, but I still think Denver's D can be very good this coming year.

Im not sure they can come back w/o still being on contract to the 49'ers yet?
I don't understand it fully, but the cowboys have a LB who retired to escape his last team then came back the next year. Maybe the team just has some sort of option. I'm sure the lions never released sanders,
