Convo's not wrong in wanting more work with the first team, regardless of whether or not the defense is trying to kill him. Most offenses work better when there's familiarity involved and even though Wentz is a rookie, extra rep are extra reps. Instead he's being thrown into the lion's den with very little in the way of actual game preparation. At least Dak played significant time in 3 preseason games, and with a lot of time with the other starters as well.

Do we get a sense of what the Eagles' offense is going to be like? I mean, Dallas is easy. Run-first offense. Probably do a few things to get Dak moving, read options and what-not behind their All-Pro line. Wentz has... what? Sproles and Matthews behind the line and some receiving options of which none are veterans of more than 3 years?

Code:
88 Jones, Cayleb WR RES 6'2" 209 3/21/1993 0 Arizona
13 Huff, Josh WR ACT 5'11" 206 10/14/1991 3 Oregon
Treggs, Bryce WR ACT 5'11" 181 4/30/1994 0 California
81 Matthews, Jordan WR ACT 6'3" 212 7/16/1992 3 Vanderbilt
18 Green-Beckham, Dorial WR ACT 6'5" 237 4/12/1993 2 Oklahoma
17 Agholor, Nelson WR ACT 6'0" 198 5/24/1993 2 USC

I hope Lurie is prepared to be patient.

I'd like to think Fisher is pulling some sort of Aaron Rodgers, sit and learn type game. That makes sense if you have Brett Favre, not Case Keenum.

Wentz by your teams use of picks is the future. Not Daniel. Not Keenum for that matter for the retards out in LA either who spent a fortune too. If his ribs are fucked up thats one thing, but if he's healthy he should be playing.

You saw it in a similar kind of leap from HS to college last night in that Florida State game. That kids head was swimming, then he settled down. Its an even bigger leap from college to the NFL, where the best guy you played against in college is now that guy + 10 more of him in the pros. You need live reps under duress vs real competition, moreso than any other at the QB position where you have to process so much mentally. Wins and losses are meaningless this year, you're not winning a SB with Wentz anyway so let him develop.

Like I said, I hope the ownership is prepared to be patient. The fanbase might not be though, and that's always driven a lot of the Philly narrative through the years.

It'll be some sloppy football Sunday but as long as he's not getting killed every down, I'm good.

Jesus fucking christ convo

.................your expectations are ridiculous

wut? he hopes wentz doesn't get killed every play and his expectations are ridiculous? i dunno bro, it's not that far out of line to think wentz might actually survive his first game. You gotta at least give him even odds of still being able to walk on monday.

Yea, I don't see where his frustration is coming from TBH. I'm all for starting Wentz asap, Had he not been injured, I wouldn't even be questioning it. But he went from hurt and inactive to starter. It's just too fast for me but what's done is done. I just hope he doesn't take too many hits.

I don't know what to expect from the Eagles now. I always said this year we'd run/screen play a lot and have the D carry us. I think that still holds true here.

Wentz has a cannon and can throw a good deep ball, we just need our WR's to step up. As any young QB, I guess expect conservative early and for things to open up more with the plays as he progresses.

At least the first game is against the Browns. Which isn't even a knock against them really considering everyone on that team is still superior in skill to anyone he has ever played against. They're just rebuilding and don't have to ponies to routinely blow him up.

Dak is in for a rough welcoming to the NFL this year too.

That said, the Philly offense under Pederson should look eerily similar to Reids in KC which will only help Wentz. Ertz and Sproles should be a nice security blanket for Wentz like Charles and Kelce are there. Those annoying screens should also help stifle some of the pass rushes too. Ryan Matthews just needs to stay healthy

I flat out feel sorry for wentz that he has to start week 1. But at the same time I'm laughing because I called it when they drafted him while eagles fans said he wasn't going to get thrown to the wolves.

Well he wasn't going to be starter.. When someone offers you a #1 for a guy that isn't your future, you gotta run with it. I'll be shocked if he throws the ball over 20x this weekend. I expect some super safe/conservative football

It's made things way more exciting for me as a fan tho. I really hope he gels with DGB, if that dude pans out, we are looking great for the future.

Peyton on playing early and even joked about his infamous record.....

"These young guys that are playing — I still like the ones that get to play early. I still think that’s the best way to learn. I still hold that rookie record for interceptions. I’m not gonna lie — I pull for these rookies every year to break it. Now you have to be a 16-game starter, so I don’t like these guys who start like 10 or 12 games, because they don’t have enough opportunities. So, I’m not gonna lie, as much as I’m pulling for them to be successful, I do not like holding that record. So, whoever wants to start their rookie quarterback 16 times and throw it a lot this year, I’m all for it."

And he had Marshall Faulk and still went 3-13. Its a rough business, you need every rep you can get vs actual defenses and DCs

man, I'm not disagreeing with you. I just think we disagree about the level of preparation that should exist prior to a rookie QB starting a NFL game. I'm worried about the dudes health. The coaches know more so I gotta roll with that, I just can't recall a rookie QB getting so little time in Preseason and training camp and actually starting week 1.

Nothing is ever gonna prepare that kid for seeing guys like JJ Watt trying to tear his head off and skull fuck him.

Thing is, once the season starts getting reps with starters at ALL pretty much goes out the window for anyone but the starter. Yeah, the backup will probably get a few reps but in the NFL they're all about doing anything they can to win that week. They don't have time to get much if any work in for an inactive 3rd string QB. How is he getting better outside of studying the playbook?

And maybe that's fine for a later pick. I just don't see how you can trade away 2 drafts for a QB that's not even going to get a chance to play. (and like @a_skeleton_06 said he's sitting for a journeyman qb, not Brett fucking Favre)

Rams were dead fucking last in the passing game last year, like what is the plan here? Case gonna take us to the playoffs? Then what?

Tell me if Im wrong here Dae...

Fisher doesnt want to hurt his confidence but.....hes the kid from So Cal who was the number 1 pick in the draft and hes standing on the sidelines in street clothes while the guy drafted behind him is starting this week. Seems like thats an even bigger confidence killer to me.

I don't think Dae disagrees? Honestly, the worst case scenario I think for LA is that Case somehow gets them into the playoffs through sheer dumb luck.

edit - By dumb luck, I mean not throwing 50 picks and letting that defense do work.

I think Fisher thinks this team has a shot at the playoffs with Case starting.

The problem is Fisher is a retard and has no idea what a good QB looks like if the last few seasons are anything to go by.

So instead of letting Goff learn on the job and perhaps sacrificing the season we are in win now mode, which is what makes the trade for Goff extra retarded.

Seems like his goal is just to try and make the playoffs to save his job. A rookie QB isnt winning the SB, so in essence all you are doing is securing worse draft picks. Yea play to win and all that, but realistic is realistic.

Should have drafted a god damn #1 receiver, maybe another DB to replace jenkins, and OL if his goal was to make the playoffs.

Now we've given up two drafts for a guy that's not prepared to start or be the backup QB.

Plus Deshaun Watson is coming out next year and will be better than Goff Wentz Dak or anyone else in this last class. QQ
