Today is the day the Patriots are visiting the White House following the Superbowl win. Perhaps he was overcome with the reality of how his life took a wrong turn and decided to just stop.

Reading that link, they have a guy saying the first murder conviction could be thrown out because of the suicide. Not sure how likely that is, but it could be a motive -- protect assets for his family.

I've said it before, but I'm always amazed at how professional athletes can throw away a good thing. The amount of dumb fucks who essentially hit the "life lottery" and then do stupid shit like get into random bar fights, beat their spouses, drive drunk, etc, and destroy their careers is never ending.

But Hernandez really took it to a whole different level. I mean, he could have potentially gone down as a Hall of Famer. And at the same time his colossal fuckup absolutely dwarfs those of his fellow dumb fucks.

hernandez, was a gang banger prior to college. stayed a gang banger....just hid it well, i mean the guy had "drug houses" for the gang that no one knew about... and he has essentially no money left after 2 murder trials- one of which he is in prison for life for, one innocent.

could he have been a HOF player? yes, he Was that good. but his irl life just fucked him up.

other patriots news

Butler signed his RFA tender, so now that he is signed for the year- IF the pats want to trade him, and can get what they want for him, they can, personally, i like the guy, never takes a play off, is always around the ball, is one of the better cover corners in the league (if a bit small- so he has issues with taller receivers) i'd like to have him in the backfield with the new guy gilmore. draft is in what a week now, we'll find out then if him or jimmy g get traded, this is NOT a draft with a guaranteed franchise QB, it has several quarterbacks that Might be good/become franchise QB, but no one like an eli or peyton, so a desparate team MIGHT give up 2 first round picks for him (that is the rumored # the pats want- which is also what a non exclusive tagged franchised player costs another team)

Doesn't surprise me. I mean, the dude was sitting in prison for murder while the Patriots went off to win two more Superbowls. No doubt he would have been on the team then to share the glory.

Signing into a $41 million dollar contract to see it all slowly get drained away by lawyers and long trials. Your kid growing up parentless because you're a moron and a murderer. Your nice house sold to pay lawyers and your woman has to move back in with her parents. Knowing that not only will you never play again, nor will you ever get out of prison anytime in the next 20 years.

Its rare that you get to see exactly where you would have been... had you not kept being a gangbanger idiot.

Yeah that's weird. I thought this line was weird too.

"Hernandez leaves behind his fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez and their 4-year-old daughter Avielle."

If she's just a fiancee, what's she doing with his last name already?

That should be a good one. I like it more when it's a competitive team as opposed to dumpster fire. And the Bucs are certainly trending up.

I think it's what made that Cardinals season show on Amazon so good.

Definitely. I'll watch. It will be more interesting since I have now met actual Buc fans.

I remember them trying to do some shenanigans so they'd be married and not have to testify against him on the original trial. It's probably related to that

According to what I've read, his assets have already been drained by legal fees & creditors, and whatever is left is sure to get chunked by the inevitable civil suit from Odin Lloyd's family. Possibly from the two other guys' families that he was clearly an accessory to murdering in the drive-by. They couldn't pin him as the trigger man, but it was obvious he had a hand in it and the burden of proof for civil damages is lower.

Regarding the murder conviction: if you want to pull a Ken Lay and suicide your way out of responsibility for your crime to protect the family cash hoard, you have to kill yourself after the verdict but PRIOR to sentencing. As in, before the trial is finalized. Killing yourself in prison three years after being found guilty as fuck doesn't vacate your conviction.

Actually, Hernandez was a middle class kid from suburban CT. His father died from medical complications when he was 16, and apparently it really messed him up. He started associating with shitty people, and his personal life never really got back on track.

It would be more sad if he didn't become a soulless murder machine.

According to the lawyer in the article, it might. It has something to do with the fact that his appeal hasn't been heard yet. I guess it's easier for them to vacate it than it is to hear the appeal without him. Maybe?

Touche. Still, if he was found guilty in criminal court for murdering Odin Lloyd, civil damages should be a 100% slam dunk even if it gets vacated due to technicality.

Technically he is innocent and that verdict is vacated. There is no slam dunk.

Lower burden of proof in civil court is why it's a slam dunk. Just like oj.
