Maybe but his time with the Browns would disagree.

Also 50% sure beats the 3% most teams have though.

That being said look at Rodgers and Brees. Every year people feel they have a shot just because of their QB. Look at basement teams like the Buccs. No QB and no prayer.

Personally I think the Pats are a mix of something that can never be repeated. One of the all time best coaches and the greatest QB in NFL history that was also willing to take under market value.

Which again, there's only 1 so all the other 29 starters are worth 1/3 of the salary cap? The Lions couldn't be a much better team if they weren't paying Stafford all that money? Maybe they're run so poorly that it wouldn't matter but with the way the game is going if you have a GOAT for the position sure, pay them. But aside from that I do think it's a good argument that just paying a decent QB just because it's a QB is not a sound argument.

Are you going to try and tell me Stafford is the problem with the Lions? Because if so we are going to disagree.

I agree that Stafford isn't the problem but we are quickly getting to the point where a great coach can use just about any above average QB and get similar results to Stafford. There are probably only 4-5 QBs a year that would fit that standard but I refuse to believe that Goff, GarrapoGOAT, Trubisky, Mahomes, etc are all top tier QBs so quickly. This year, CAM fucking NEWTON has a 68% completion rate. Nothing says that the NFL is pushing the game towards flag football better than a career 59% passer suddenly getting near 70%. Dak Prescott almost has a 65% completion rate. Brees forgot what ints were. WRs are catching at historic levels.

The NFL has pushed and pushed for over a decade to make it too easy to fail at QB. They can't be touched, their WRs can barely be touched, and most offenses look like a Big 12 offense. Defenses are handicapped to the point players injure themselves to not hurt the QB. William Hayes tears ACL trying to not place weight on QB in sack .

Today may not be the day where you can fit in rookies every 6 years....but we are damn close to that point.

All that makes the QB position more important not less. Who wants Dak to come QB for their team? Not me that is for sure.

ESPN should pay $$$ to get Romo. He is awesome. He would rule MNF.

Witten should be taking notes from him.

I'd love if Romo took over MNF. Worst commentators in a long long while. I've stopped watching Monday's for the most part.

Are the Lions really not going to win, on a short week, on their home field, against a backup QB?

If the Packers get their act together under a new coach, the division could be interesting next year.
