The fact that most of you don't even know what the Conn Smythe is actually awarded for makes this even more comical and tragic.

The Conn Smythe isn't awarded to the most valuable player in the playoffs, the Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player TO HIS TEAM, which is significantly different.

Rest your jimmies nerds, you will need them for the coming reckoning.
Calm your jimmies, that distinction doesn't need to be made here because there is no unofficial Jay Cutler trophy for the player judged to be most valuable to a team that is not his own in the NHL playoffs.

They will go on to win the Cup and Crawford will win the Conn Smythe.
For serious discussion on this, I have to wonder if if having Toews as a former winner and Kane (always going to be looked at as a candidate) on the same team might hurt Crawford's chances of winning a Conn Smythe even if they win it. Patrick Sharp has been quite good this year too as a possible dark horse candidate. Now I could see him winning it if the WCF are just an absolute war of the goalies and he out duels Quick, then completely shuts down whoever comes out of the East...but I think it would be tough for him to get the nod over other teammates.

Toews and Kane havent generated enough points for consideration and in 95% of cases the member of the Cup winner gets the Conn Smythe. Last 4 out of 10 Playoffs it was a goalie. Basically Crawford is a shoe in if the Hawks take it all.

So you're saying it's gonna be the Bruins?
It was a total hypothetical, but you make a good point, I can't see any goalie completely shutting down the Pens offense. Maybe Quick. In which case a bunch of writers will arbitrarily decide he should get a trophy.

Crawford will shut down the Pens. The pens aint shit. The West conference makes the East look like the AHL.

Sharp has had a good playoffs though, and really they're only half over...Toews or Kane could easily have a big series or two and push their point totals up. I agree though that there isn't a true front runner for the Hawks right now that lets Crawford's name be up for discussion, but I don't think he's a shoe in to be the one to win it if they win the Cup.

And in the cases were the losing team won the conn smythe they were all goalies except for Reggie leach who scored 18 goals in the playoffs that year. 0% chance it goes to a pens or bruins player if the west wins.

I'd say Vokoun might get consideration for "savior" status after Fleury fell on his face again...but lets face it, he's never going to be thought of as carrying the team to the Finals. Don't think Rask would have a shot either unless he did something outrageous rest of the way.

Oh come on, Vokoun could get hurt. Meaning Crosby(whom they would LOVE to vote for) could put up sick numbers in a losing effort with Fleury in net=P

I'm just saying, 10 goals and 20 points in a losing effort could do it. 0% goes out the window with those variables.

Realistically the only lock if their team wins would be Quick I think.

What if Geno scores more than Sid? They might think of him for his 2nd first then.

Possible, he just wouldn't have the added benefit of being every voter's favorite player.

SPEAKING OF GENO! Man that 2nd line is scary right now. B's are gonna match Chara up with Sid as much as they can(until Duper floors him again!), but that means the Neal/Malkin/Iginla line is going to be getting the 2nd string blueliners. I can live with that. Pick your poison I guess.

I can already tell you who wins the Conn Smythe

If Pit wins the Cup - then Crosby
If Boston - then Krejci
If LA (haha) - then Quick
If Hawks - then Crawford

Who cares about Conn Smythe and Ken Jennings and his Jeopardy run. Lady Byng trophy is the only one worth a damn in this league

Just FYI Arasayar, if Boston wins the cup it's either Chara or Bergeron. Bergerons line will matchup against Crosby's in the ECF, if they can find a way to win that series it will be because they limited or contained Crosby, I don't think there is a way they shut him out. I could be wrong, but I think you named Krejci after just reading some says and not watching the B's play, while his point total is outstanding, it hasn't been a driving force behind their wins.

I was on the fence about naming Chara or Krejci.

But its hard to ignore Krejci's 17 points in 12 games in playoffs so far. That's an impressive haul.
