The Canucks are on the level of soccer and LOL @ them for bitching about the Sharks.Come now, everyone embellishes in this league (although to be fair, the NHL isn't soccer). The only reason you pay attention to Ovechkin's embellishments is because he's Ovechkin. I was only pointing out there are far better examples of it.
Fair point on the Isles outplaying you...at least as far as possession and SOG/Corsi/Fenwick goes. On the other hand, you also had Fleury resembling Fleury from last year's playoffs for large portions of Games 2-4...which included both of your losses. Not every series is going to be pretty, and while I agree Ottawa is dangerous the Pens are pretty familiar with them in the playoffs. Plenty of time to iron out the kinks. I can tell you I 100% did not want to face the Isles in the 1st round, they're a dangerous team. Tavares took a big step this year, and so did their team. Obviously realignment is going to change the landscape some next year, but you have to think they will compete for the playoffs again, assuming they can bring back or replace a couple key free agents (Streit, Nabakov).
If the Rangers could "cash in" on these PP the series would of been over. Caps have consistantly given us every chance in this series, it's so frustrating to watch. We're just playing with fire again getting into penalty trouble. It's not like it's the first game or two of the series, they should know what gets called and what doesn't by now. Rags' PP will cash in if we keep giving them chances. Feel lucky to be 0-0 after that period.
Edit: apparently credit went to Nash, didn't look like he got a piece from what I saw.Brassard has been fucking great in this series. Glad he got one.
Hillen and Erskine have been brutal at making smart decisions to get pucks out of our end. 1st period we spent too much time in the box, but that period we just got flat outplayed. Holtby and a couple of great D plays by Alzner and Carlson are the only reason it's only 1-0...well that and Ovechkin choking on an empty net. Maybe if he listened to Oates and changed his stick curve his backhand would be more reliable.2nd period has been brutal. I feel like every time the Caps are in their own zone, they start getting soft. Almost like they're on a penalty kill every fucking time.
It would be nice to earn even 1 PP chance for us to try and "cash in". Our PK has been pretty good, but I thought the Rags actually had some better puck movement today than in Game 5 on the PP...still I understand the frustration when the PP comes up empty with that many chances all too well...reminds me of 2010 against the Habs.If the Rangers could "cash in" on these PP the series would of been over. Not trying to take anything away from the PK mind you, that last one especially.
Keep dreaming? It would be nice to earn even 1 PP chance for us to try and "cash in".
The one he got JUST enough of a piece of with the glove was a game saver. I know everyone likes to hate on him cause he's young, but his body of work speaks for itself...he can't add 10 years to his resume in one series. We need to find a way to not put it on his shoulders though...and worse, Lundy has been nails today so far. Ovechkin had the empty net on the one backhand move and just choked it.As much as I hate him, props to Holtby those last 10 minutes.
Rags showing some discipline today in drawing dumb penalties. It cost them the lead and then the game friday. They sure as shit better keep it that way.It would be nice to earn even 1 PP chance for us to try and "cash in". I agree it's not likely, especially now that we're in the 3rd period.Keep dreaming?
