but we have more depth and play lights out at home.
1st goal of the game, Pens 3rd line.

Depthy asfuck.

2nd goal? 3rd line.

Even depthier asfuck.

edit: Unrelated to the undeniable depthiness of the Penguins, I really like the green Minnesota jerseys, with the cursive name. I guess it's their alternate jersey. Anyways, looks great.

They wore the green all through the playoffs last year. I think most people up here prefer them. The regular red/green/white is too ugly christmas sweater looking. The cream and green ones are very classy.

However, I do like our Wild bear-cat-man-pig-thing wilderness logo.

Finally on the scoreboard. Game hasn't been too bad. You guys have just taken advantage of the scoring chances.

That was a goal. Also it's good to know you are allowed to knock a goalie flat and then just lean on him until your team scores, more teams should employ that strategy.

Stupid lazy Greiss...

edit: Oh good, Granlund diving on him was called apparently....at some point?

Not trying to take anything away from Tarasenko here, but he was being defended by two kids who belong in the AHL .... while on a PP.... playing against the backup goaltender. The reach on that last move at the end is all kinds of nasty though.

Of the Rangers' top 6 blue liners, four are hurt/suspended. Despite all the injury woes (missing two key offensive players as well) I am really happy with how this team has been playing and that includes the last two games which ended with a SO loss.

Why is it every time I post a badass gif of some ankle breaking goal some douchenozzle has to come in and try to shit on it by downplaying the D-men? Say nice goal and move on. No one gives a fuck who the D is, it's a fucking highlight not an in-depth breakdown of the ins and outs of the Rangers minor league defensive depth.

Well since you called me out (everytime you post a gif? Really!?) I feel inclined to retort. I gave props where they were due, sorry I didn't reply to your gif the way you wanted?

I thought we had this thread to discuss hockey. You provided me with an in to talk about the defensive situation in NY. It's not often your blueline gets stretched so thin the coach starts looking for wingers to volunteer to play defense. Calmeth thine tits yo, it was worth mentioning.

If your gonna be salty, it should be over getting stuck with Marc Andre Floppy an extra four years!

Simon Desperes just fought Evander Kane. It went better than you'd expect, Kane only landed one big punch and Despres took it fine. It was only notable because the two of them acted like buddies. They were smiling and talking before the fight and apparently agreed to take off their helmets. They were laughing and smiling while throwing punches at each other too. It was weird, and when Despres got off balance and was falling almost on his head it looked like Kane tried to angle him so he'd land safer.

Another rough loss tonight with the Wild out shooting but not putting it in the net. We're kind of a weird squad in that outside of Vanek (who is off to slow start) and Zucker (who isn't there yet but may be some day), we don't really have any traditional goal scorers. Koivu and Granlund are both uber skilled, but prefer to set people up. Parise is a great player but essentially an all-pro grinder and a lot of the team follows that mold. Part of it is coaching. Yeo is getting better and better but he's still young and part of it is the team makeup. We seem pretty content to just try and force the puck in most nights and that leads to cold stretches like the last two games. Credit to Anderson in goal tonight though. Guy looked like a brick wall out there.

He's far and away the best player in the league and should go down as an all time great, but that comparison doesn't do Gretzky justice.
