Missed the game, was at a concert. Sounds like the Oil's D, especially Schultz and Klefbom, were pretty terrible. Nilsson didn't have a good night, either.
In other news, I don't understand how in the fuck Rinaldo doesn't get suspended for his hit, and then Demers gets two games. For the Demers elbow, it's obvious that he was expecting a big hit from Bonino, who instead slowed up and went for the puck. So Demers was preparing for a big hit and defending himself, but because of the timing change and Bonino being down low ends up elbowing him in the face. Personally, the game misconduct was probably enough by itself. Maybe 1 game? He's never been suspended before and the play was clearly an accident.
On the other hand, Rinaldo delivers a late head shot to Couterier, and gets nothing. It was a charge (in terms of distance traveled and skating strides, he didn't jump), it was interference (puck was gone for over a second, NHL standard is half a second apparently, although it seemingly changes all the time), and it was a head shot. Not to mention that he was blasting a guy who was already tied up by one of his teammates. From a player who is known as dirty and has been suspended numerous times. Yet he gets nothing past the game misconduct. I just don't get it. It makes no sense.
Normally I think that the critiquing of NHL suspensions is a little ridiculous, and I think they've been doing a better job these last couple years on consistency. But those two plays, I just don't get what they're thinking. At all. It makes zero sense to me that Demers gets 2 games, and Rinaldo gets nothing.
