Also just read an article where Holtby defended Lundqvist for tossing the net and am dangerously close to liking him for it. Why can't MAF show such "class"??
Because Fleury is a bitch. Yeah I finally saw the angle that showed it in as well. Just a lot of confusion that didn't seem to be necessary. Kind of glad I got home right after it.

Disappointed the game winner was on a semi nothing shot right at the start of the 3rd that took a funny deflection, but that's how it goes sometimes. Love our new 4th line.

So apparently Michael Nylander (of the Circles nickname around Capitals country) had Brooks Laich assist on his last NHL goal. Tonight his kid William scored his first career NHL goal for Toronto...assisted by Brooks Laich. Pretty neat.

Talbot is a stud. For a late 2nd and 3rd round pick, that trade was a steal but I like where he landed and he deserved better than Lundqvists shadow.

If you like or understand fancy stats, this graph shows how good McDavid has been:Skater Comparison -- war-on-ice.com

Over the summer Stamkos made some headlines when he said that he thought McDavid was better than him, right now, when he was asked how good he is (they trained together). Some people said that maybe it was Stamkos being modest about his own ability, or just pumping his bud's tires and messing around with him. Turns out he was dead serious, and probably correct. He just didn't go far enough. In terms of sheer offensive ability right now, McDavid is arguably the best in the league.

By any measure, McDavid has been awesome. Per/60 rates aren't always the best measuring stick, and given his smaller sample size with the time he's missed, potentially even less so...but he passes the eye test every time you watch. If they can shore up their blue line, I think they can push for the playoffs next year.

Caps/Ducks game last night was all kinds of fun to watch. 1-1 to the shootout and likely on another night would have been 3-3 or higher. Holtby and Gibson both were pretty great most of the game. Would love to see a playoff series between the two this year.

I dunno, I find this "fight" kind of hilarious. I feel bad for Polak though. Poor guy I think was just calling for a change at his bench, but made the mistake of doing it within 5' of Nurse, who thought he was challenging him for a fight. Ass kicking commenced immediately. I think it was a genuine miscommunication, if you look at the video around the 1:15 mark. In any case, Polak has long been a cheap fuck, so karma's a bitch and all that. Fuck me did he ever take a couple hard ones.

Watched that really quick on my phone at work but it looked like Nurse just started punching him in the face out of no where... I'm mean i'm sure there was shit talking going on but the fact that Polak didn't even throw his gloves kinda makes the other guy look like a dickhead.

The context is that Hendricks had gone hard in to the boards previous to that fight, and Polak had taken a penalty on the play. In reality he actually didn't do anything to Hendricks, he toe picked on his own. But Nurse probably didn't see a replay, and was operating under the assumption that Polak had done something dirty to him. Which is generally a pretty safe assumption, given his history. So when Polak's penalty expired, he came out of the box, was briefly involved in the play, and then went to the bench to get a change. Normally a D would not be changing at his own blue line when the play is in his own zone. Like I said, watch at around 1:15. I think that Nurse genuinely thought that Polak was skating directly towards him and challenging him for a fight, when in actuality he was skating to the bench and signalling for a change.

He's going to get a game or two, I don't think there's much question of that. But I can see why Nurse reacted the way he did, given what had happened previously on the ice, how the play developed, and Polak's reputation. I would think that there's a fair number of guys who've been run by Polak who are watching that video with a smile on their face.

Sucks to lose it in OT on a really bad line change, but hot damn the Caps are good in 3rd periods.

He still blind-sided a guy who wasn't even taking his gloves off and wailed on him mercilessly. This is not a proper hockey fight. I'm glad he's likely to get hit with the stick.

Okay, I know I rail on this, but what in the actual fuck is going on in Toronto? Worst in the league. By a lot. Not even a tiny slim glimmer of chance of playoffs. No one cares. Tickets keep selling.

Fuck Toronto fans right in the pussy. I'm a fan, and I want desperately for everyone to stop buying tickets and merchandise. I want that organisation to starve financially until they realise that the shit they have been pulling for the last 20 years is going to leave them with no fan base and no future.

Fuck them. GAH!
