Fuck yes, Logan Thompson 6 years at $5.85M AAV. Goalie 1 locked up at a good price.

That's a really awesome price for the way he's playing right now, he could slow down a bit and it would still be a good deal.

Obviously have doubts he'll maintain this current level long term...nobody is that solid all the time. But like you said, even if it dips a little, it's a friendly enough cap number that it can be a really solid deal. I think it's time for him to start getting more of the starts, even though they've been alternating virtually the whole season while him and Lindgren have been healthy. Another 1 GA on 30+ shot night tonight, too.

I mean after what NY and Boston did you basically just played the market so well. Had those two teams been crushing the standings I could see this costing at least 1.5 AAV more. GM played this one well.

Definitely not upset about it at all. Anything over a couple years for a goalie can be risky, but the AAV is great, and he's not quite 28 years old yet. For the next few at least, goalie 1 should be locked up here.

You guys only had to give up two 3rd round picks to get him and $5.85m is a steal. His last 2 seasons he had a great above avg. sv%.

Jets and Caps are running 1-2 for the NHL lead.

The Jets are the highest scoring team in the league, but if the Jets can acquire a top 2C, they could make it to the Finals.

It's definitely been a great all around pickup. The irony is Kuemper is actually having a nice bounce back season for LA, but I wouldn't trade what we're getting out of PLD and Thompson for Kuemper and two 3rds back. PLD on a 65 point pace, and that's with his goal scoring just heating up lately (11 total on the season, but 6 this month and 4 in his last 5 games overall).

We need to get the Strome/Ovechkin line going again, and team needs to figure out what it wants to do with the 3rd line. We made that early trade for Eller b/c he was one of the few guys playing well for Pittsburgh hopefully to solve 3C for rest of this year...but they might be looking to go bigger. The rest of that line has just been a bunch of prospects and guys like Vrana on a one year deal seeing what they can do, but not much consistency. The looming figure of Ryan Leonard joining the team once Boston College's season is over looks likely to either see him take the 3RW spot on that line, or if he plays higher maybe bump someone like Protas down to it (which improves it either way). But the Protas/PLD/Wilson line has producing so well, it's hard to want to mess with it.

Dirtiest hit I've seen in a while...

But I'm sure Vegas will do the right thing and punish Stone. Probably by putting him on LTIR until mid to late April.. That'll show him!

What the heck was even the thought process? I'll just Frankie Luvu dive into his knee?

He's claiming that Hintz tripped him, causing him to of course sprawl across and into Heiskanen. OTOH, he sat on the bench watching the replay laughing at it. Then apparently Knights PR got him before the press after the game and he quickly reprogrammed into "Hate to see anybody get hurt on a play..."

Oh and reports I'm hearing now are that Miro Heiskanen is going in for surgery on a wrecked ACL and done for this season.

Insane loss.
Got an update this morning. Initial report was false. He has what is now being called an "extreme sprain" of his MCL, no surgery, and listed as "week to week" until further specialist visits and diagnostics can get done.

Still... fuck Mark Stone...

Well Habs have been struggling recently. First the injury to Heineman kind of made us shuffle our bottom two lines and their offense basically stopped and they were good contributors.

Now the injury to Ghule will do the same on defence

Dobes cooled off a bit after his awesome start. Still does a great job, the goals allowed in last 3 games are not reflective of how he’s playing.

Hopefully we can turn things around before we fall off too much out of playoff race.

Tonight was Marc-Andre Fleury last game in Montreal, his hometown and the fans showed him some love and the habs players stayed on the ice to shake his hand. Nice gesture.

Future hall of fame on his first time of eligibility for sure.

Wild Caps game. Give up 2 shorties on one PP, including a PS. Pull a 3-1 game after 2 periods to 3-2, go back down 4-2, Ovi gets it to 4-3, ANOTHER short-handed penalty shot attempt in there that Lindgren saves this time, tie it up with 5 minutes left only to lose in OT when for some reason all 3 guys get sucked over to the wall for a scrum and of course Ottawa is able to find the guy chilling wide open in the slot who buries it.

Lightning are in a rut. I think we're literally cursed. Went from the highest scoring team to not being able to score shit in the last 8 games. Defensively were much better then last year but it really doesn't matter if they only score 2 on you if you can't get 3. Losing Moser really sucks. I really liked him at the beginning of the season and can't wait for him to get back.

What's also crazy is we're generating chances in high danger scoring areas, out shooting the opposition 2 to 1, but can't finish when it matters.

Hopefully beating the kings is the turn around but they are 2-7-1 in their L10 so can't be jerking our tits yet. The real test will be against Islanders this weekend who are 8-2 in their L10.
