Just strange they sent down Sgarbossa back to Hershey instead of Lapierre (Lapierre is waivers exempt). Figure you want him getting minutes down there at least, maybe alongside Miro. I understand if they only see Sgarbossa as depth fill in, cause he is. If they're keeping Lapierre up, is he just going to rotate on LW with Vrana with Milano out on IR? Not sure those very limited minutes are going to be best for his development.

Lappy is in no man’s land right now of being to good for The AHL but not good enough for the NHL. Sucks cause he’s easily the fastest skater on the Caps. He’s at least lucky that 3LW isn’t even set since Milano can’t stay healthy and Vrana needs motivation via the press box often.

I figure him and Vrana will rotate with the winds of how well they play, I just want him to get minutes if that's what he needs. Patience paid off with McMike, and it was needed b/c covid interrupted a lot of the development of guys who were drafted around then.
And so it was.
The Jets played their backup goalie who should be in the AHL.6 day break coming off a 0-3-1 record who are playing? The Jets.

Still amuses me how much the hockey media jerked themselves off to the idea that the rosters they've put together these last couple years were playoff worthy each time.

At least they got more right back then. Pens front offices making bad move after bad move for the last few years was obvious to everyone but them.

He did last season, I'd say so far this year he's been the worse of the 2 goalies, though still not bad or anything. I know they just gave Thompson 2 starts in a row (they had been strictly rotating one then the other). But I think it was mainly just to set up Thompson to play his old team Vegas Sunday night.
We've been pretty decent defensively, and our offense has obviously been providing goal support.
