I got it yesterday but I need to wrap up Horizon first.

I did pop it in to get the patch and pre-order DLC loaded, and played through the demo area again to see what all the fuss about the lack of save spots was. Third try on Hard I got to the end boss, died towards the end, then ejected the disc in shame. If I can't beat it after a couple more tries tonight I guess I'll be a pussy and drop it down to Normal so I can get on with it. I don't mind the 'ironman' thing, just the inability to skip through the dialogue on repeat attempts.

I went with normal becouse I did not like that the harder difficulty reduces your abilities, ie no target lock on hard mode.

Release date is tomorrow in Europe, but I just got confirmation that my Amazon order has been delivered this morning.

Can't wait to play it tonight.

Yeah, still playing Horizon. Will pick this up soon though. Along with an Xbox controller because I just can't fucking do it with the Steam controller anymore. I really wanted to like it too.

I wasn't familiar with this guy's work before the demo for this was released. Dude might give Kojima a run for his money in the wtf department based on the first post demo boss.

You really missed out if you didn't play Drakengard 3 last gen. The first NieR too, of course, but that game isn't nearly as insane as Drakengard gets (other than Kaine).

And yeah, Yoko Taro is a pretty strange dude, more like Suda51 or Swery 65 than Kojima. He's done all his stage appearances and interviews for the past few years wearing the mask (Emil from NieR) that was included as day one edition DLC.

How is Nier connected to the Drakengard series? i am a bit confused on that. I read someone that Nier is like a sequel to the first Drakengard which does not make a lot of sense to me.

Only about 2 hours in, it's a super weird game, I have no idea what's going on, no idea how to add pods and pegs (mods to your android that work like skills)

The UI and map are horrible (or I am missing something)

The combat is very interesting and I am digging the melee part si far. I did not know it included arcade style air combat which is kinda neat.

I must of missed something. Was level 13 and unknowingly triggered a plot related boss and after beating it almost all the world map mobs jumped up to 25-40. Can still kill them, just takes forever since I am only doing 1-12 damage a swing. Weapons are all level 2 except for the pod and I thought I had done most of the side quests. Wondering if I was supposed to go old school jrpg and grind the hell out of an area before moving on.

Not sure what you did, which boss did you spawn? I know that after you beat Adam, mobs in the desert get higher leveled, and the mobs in that boss area jump to 38.

If the combat is essentially similar to Metal Gear Rising, I'll probably pick this up, but its a bit of a tough sell, even though it looks really decent.

I only played Drakengard 1 and maybe an hour or two of the first Nier, but this looks interesting. I don't have a PS4 so I hope the PC port is good.

After applying the patch all the mobs were back to 18-25 outside of scripted events like escort quests, kung fu guy etc. Not sure if it was the patch or having the game restart and reload, either way I'm happy it's back to normal. Game is growing on me, story is still kind of the wtf Japan genre but it has some nice humor to it and the game play is solid, like some sort of Bayonetta/Devil May Cry JRPG. The stamp quest got a literal laugh out loud out of me and I'm big softy for animals so the animal caretaker quest line has been nice so far. If the PC port is good I'll probably give my PS4 copy to a buddy so I can play it at a higher resolution with an elite controller.
