No problems here either in terms of joy cons. However, I did get the "insert game" or whatever a couple of times. I'm back to blowing the slot on the console and putting the game back in and it works fine. I'm still very concerned how long the games, joy cons, and stand will withstand my children. As a family of 4, we are pretty rough on console and we really like to play as a family throughout the week. When Mario Kart and Splatoon comes out, it's going to be used pretty heavily.
Honestly, I would have rather paid $399 for something a little better quality than the $299.
Don't get my wrong, we really enjoy our Switch and I'm overall a fan but I certainly see their shortcomings and how others could be upset.

Biggest thing they skimped on was the screen imo. What mobile device with a screen doesn't use gorilla glass or an equivalent?
I still don't regret getting it, the console itself especially in handheld mode works great. The lack of games might start to matter once Zelda is old news, but hopefully they get VC out by then

There's a screen protector that I bought on Amazon for like $11. It's awesome, is less money than the Nintendo one, and works way better. I'll link it for you.

I mean it's the same as Xbox fans denying RROD was widespread, or the PS4 disc ejection issue (which I've still never been able to fix on mine). People who have invested money into the console are going to defend it within reason.

Yeah but ultimately, they were all wrong. The RROD was a disaster. Never heard of the PS4 ejection issue but again, I am not a console warrior so if it exists, it should be fixed. Same with everything all messed up with the Switch. And I think that is the issue at hand. Fanboys who fail to recognize widespread issues, but I think it goes way deeper than that, and it's hired 3rd party marketing firms purposely downplaying the truth within specified launch windows. And here is the kicker.
All three of these companies do it.
All major publishers do it.
So the part that sucks is, issues that should be corrected are drowned out by a bunch of bullshit, and the only way to get these companies to listen? Is to hit their wallets. Otherwise, they don't give a shit either if people keep buying their broken shit, because why would they care otherwise?

Yeah, these companies weigh the cost of additional quality checks and testing against the cost of failures reaching the consumer. 0 ppm defects is completely unfeasible, since you will spend way more money getting there than you will save in warranty work and repairs.
The thing that is hard to determine is how widespread these issues actually are. Those with issues are always the people that are going to go online and complain about it, not the people that have nothing wrong. We will probabaly never know what percentage of people actually have problems. At best we will get the manufacturer admitting a "small number of users experience the issue" and offering fixes.
RRoD was kind of an exception, that level of failure where the failure result was complete loss is pretty unheard of

I think I had 3 360s total, two RRoD and the final one made it through OK. The Switch dock issue is legit. It's a horribly designed hunk of plastic so I've draped a small microfiber cloth that came with my PSVR between the front of the screen and the dock. Before that, I managed to get a small scratch on the left part of my Switch even being careful.
