I'll be heading to BB today to pick up my copy for the Wii U. I'll report back on stock. Pretty sure you can find Zelda for Switch anywhere you want.

I started replaying Link to the Past on ZSNES. Only minor framerate drops when you get a bunch of the cyclops guys tossing bombs in the dark world.

Well that went well. Walked into Target 5 min after they opened. Scored a Switch and Zelda. Store had 42 total consoles available and there were probably about 15 left in the stack when I got mine. In and out in under 10 min. Looking forward to trying it out tonight after work!

From the good ol boys Nintendo Club over on SA.

Desync on left joycon is abominable. Just resting it in my lap (in the grip) kills the connection at a distance of 8 feet or so.

Anyone getting the left Joy-Con sync issue that was reported before launch? I'm getting it, makes navigating the menus hell and Snipperclips was un-playable because of it.

This should be interesting how Nintendo back paddles there way out of this because there isn't a firmware update that will fix this.

As a side note I love how #Fakenews from Nintendo Fanboys (Not anyone here on this forum) or actual 3rd party Marketing from Nintendo themselves, which could also very well be the case) make up shit to try and deflect a hardware failure to not impact launch day sales, rather than admitting to the issue and issuing replacement Joycons.

If you hold the left joycon with your teeth, communication seems to be solid.

I can't help myself, had to pick this up for best Zelda experience.

Walked into Target 8:02am, line was long, was about to turn around and say fuck it, saw red shirts and asked, scored ticket for last console. Looked like they had about 40ish and I was the last one. Manager said they expect more on Monday and Target is putting out a big ad saying they will have them in stock.

Funny story: frantic guy walks up to manager, manager points to me at the end of the line. Guy is like, hey I was here at 630 and was at the front of the line but I forgot my credit card and had to run home and get it. The manager gave you my ticket. He wasn't being a dick but he was seemingly thinking I was going to give up my ticket for him.

I looked at him and literally said: "Sorry about your luck." He didn't get pissy or anything but this was his face:

And..... Now people are experiencing more slow downs as a result of being docked.

Docked mode is probably fucked unless they start dialing back on cpu requirements in their games.

Laying out the maths here, docking increases pixel count from 720p to 900p, a 56 per cent in resolution. However, memory bandwidth only rises by 20 per cent, from 1331MHz to 1600MHz. Bandwidth is shared between CPU and GPU, so the higher resolution in the home console mode may be sapping memory bandwidth away from the main processor cores, making us more prone to slowdown when the CPU is under load. Bandwidth concerns may also explain why resolution doesn't scale closer in line with the difference in clock-speeds (307.2MHz or 384MHz undocked, 768MHz docked). Suffice to say, if you're looking to play Breath of the Wild with minimal performance drops, running undocked is the way forward.

Between that and the Joycon desync issues, I hope everyone is like @etchazz and only plays in Bed or on a bus.

Thus far I have not experienced any issues but we'll put it through the ringer tonight when the kids begin stressing it out.

I'm enjoying the console in the regards to first impressions.

Joy-cons/controls are very responsive and accurate (impressions based on 1-2 switch with kids)
System is truly seamless with dock to undock
I used the stand today and let my Game Design students mess with it and play 1-2 Switch (stand worries me a bit with my own children)
I think it looks good so far too.
Pretty comfortable holding the device too.

What I really don't like is how cheap everything feels. The dock, joy cons, top adapters to joy-cons, and pretty well everything just feels cheap.
Games are just meh except Zelda. For what I paid for everything, I feel very little hype beyond Zelda. Maybe its all I need for now but I would have liked it much better if I could have brought home Mario Kart and Splatoon2 in addition to Zelda. Oh well...

The 2-4 hours i've played seems to meet expectations. The portability is the seller for me. I really like setting up the game and just get to playing with friends. If they don't make a GoldenEye 007 HD, they're on crack. Pretty well anything from the 64 needs to be given sequels or HD copies. Games like Contra, River City Ransom, and other co-op classics need to be made. If they do not capitalize on the portability and multiplayer, they're going to miss the boat.

I feel the same way pretty much, I want it strictly as a powerful mobile device, personally.

It'll be awhile before I'm able to get one I'm sure but I'd still like one.

More than a little surprised that 1-2 Switch doesn't even have a demo. I would have thought the quirky nature of the game would have meant it would be a default pack-in ala WiiSports, but if not then at least a demo so people can try a couple of the minigames.

who seriously thought it was going to be able to compete with a ps4 or xbox1? the fucking thing is tiny as fuck. If anyone thought it would compete on that level, they are a fucking idiot plain and simple.

The real problem here is how come no one else can pull of a game on the same level of Nintendo did on a tiny as fuck tablet. This has got me scratching my damned head. Tiny ass portable device, yet they just possibly put the greatest game ever made on there.

Damn that sucks, this console needs a few extra purchases to just seem functional. Screen protector, Pro controller if you want a dpad, charging grip if you want to charge the joycons while not docked.

Define real gamers? I have a gaming pc, couple ps4s through the house. I am looking the switch so far, I only have Zelda but that's fine. I've been playing for about 3 hours and have barely left the starting area. The game is so freaking huge and going anywhere you want is pretty awesome. I remember back during eq days killing hours trying to climb up random shit.

I haven't noticed any huge frame drops and ive only been playing it docked, with the pro controller. The docking and undocking is fast and easy.

Overall for the price I paid out it seems awesome. Then again I spend more on random movies and TV shows on Amazon in a month than this thing cost.
